Chapter Nine: Unexpected Visitor

[Isaac Colten Sutts]

"What did you feel when I kissed you?" It's been nearly a week since that happened. I couldn't exactly answer that because I hadn't just experienced it. I looked at him and sighed.

"Why are you asking?" He looked at the ceiling that was littered with random stars.

"I just want to make sure you feel the same way I do." It took me several moments to register what he said.

"Wait! What do you mean by that?" He looked me in the eye and held his head up high.

"I'm in love with you. So? What do you say?" I squeezed my eyes shut before opening them to see that I was laying on CC's bed, not sitting on the couch. I looked over to see Cilyn asleep next to me and the clock reading 4 A.M. I sighed and sat up only to hear Andrew crying. Andrew was usually good throughout the night. I don't remember a night where he ever burst out crying like this.

I stood up and walked over to the door. I didn't really care about my exposed skin but it was cold. I frowned and made my way down the steps. I forgot to grab my glasses so I struggled to keep a steady pace.

When I made it to Andrew's room I noticed that the door was open and that a man was just staring at the baby. His head was cocked to the side and his legs were crossed. Andrew screamed and hollered as I walked past the man and picked Andrew up.

"Taylor? Is that you?" I looked over to the man for him to widen his eyes.

"You're not Taylor." I rocked Andrew to sleep and gestured him to leave the room. He left as I set Andrew down into his crib. I walked back over to the door and shut the light off. I walked over to the man and squinted my eyes.

"Sorry. I can't see you all that well. But for what I can tell I don't know you and you haven't been around Andrew.

"I apologize for me rudely walking in like this. Do you know my daughter by any chance? Her name is Taylor Hemming." I shook my head.

"Her husband lives here. She died before I got the chance to meet her. Why?" He sighed and looked around the room.

"I heard her twin brother was looking for our family. He was put into an orphanage when he was first born. You might know him. I believe his name is Isaac..." I stared at the man.

"You wouldn't have a last name to go with that would you?" He thought for a moment,

"Sutts. I think that's right." I stared at him feeling more awake now.

"You should go sit down. I'm going to go get my glasses and wake CC up." He nodded and moved toward the living room. I took a deep breath before going over to the stairs. I made it up them and went into CC's room.

"Hey CC. Get up. We have a visitor." He groaned as I pulled a shirt on and went over to my side of the bed to grab my glasses.

"If you leave me with that man I swear to god I will never let you kiss me again." I saw his ear twitch and he sat up.

"Who is it?" I sighed and tossed him a shirt.

"He claims to Be Taylor's Father. But there's more. Let's go downstairs." He sighed and pulled the shirt on before standing up and following me to the living room. Now that I could see him I saw the resemblance between us.

"Mr. Hemming, what can I do for you?" The man looked at him and then back to me.

"I was just informed by your dear friend here that my daughter died. I was here to tell her the truth about something but she's no longer here."

"What was it?" I looked down feeling a little sick.

"She has a twin brother. He's been looking for the family for the past ten years. I heard he stopped looking so I thought maybe he found a location. This was the only place I thought of to show up." I looked at the floor.

"What's his name?" I felt my throat close up as he said it.

"Isaac Sutts. At least I think that's what they said." CC looked at me before back to the man.

"But that can't be. Isaac's an orphan." That's right, an orphan with a family that didn't want him.

"Not exactly. We left him at the orphanage. We weren't able to take care of both of them." I stood up and looked at CC.

"I don't think I can do this." He gazed at Mr. Hemming then looked up at me.

"Go lay down. I'll be up there in a few minutes." I nodded and left the room moving to go to CC's room. I heard CC's voice drift away as I laid down and muffled their words with a pillow. You really were unwanted since the beginning.

[Cilyn Carson]

"I hope you're proud of your decision!" I glared at William feeling angry.

"What did I do?"

"You basically told your son you didn't want him compared to your daughter! I won't lie. I loved your daughter, but that man has been the only thing other than my child that has kept me on my feet. I probably would have died without him here. You wanna know why he stopped looking for you? It's because he finally realized he doesn't need you to move on in life." I stood up and started to pace the room.

"What are you talking about? You're not saying he's my son, are you?" I glared at him.

"Yes, that man is your son. He didn't show up in my life because of some dream to find his family. I showed up in his life because my wife died! He was my therapist but he became my best friend. And you're going to stand there and say you're worried he's going to find his family?" He sat there without saying anything for several moments. I heard Andrew start crying so I went into his room. I picked him up and brought him out to the living room.

"There's a reason Amanda divorced you. She wanted you out of their lives. Go before I call the police for breaking and entering!" He frowned and stood.

"Fine. But she divorced me because she didn't love me." I shook my head.

"That's where you're wrong. She divorced you because you treated her badly and you almost killed someone. Now get out of my house!" I rocked my son at a steady pace as he walked over to the door.

"I didn't almost kill him; I did kill him. Have a nice life. Good bye Cilyn!" He slammed the door behind him as I stared after him.
