Chapter Eighteen: Isaac's Secret
[Cilyn Carson]
"Class dismissed. Study for your test and finish the last chapter. Do not expect me to give you a freebie. There will be an essay!" I called to the students as they all walked out. Brayson was sitting at his desk with his head lying on the desk. He looked tired and in slight pain.
"What's up with you?" He groaned and lifted his head to show dark circles under his eyes. He attempted to sit up straighter but he winced and slumped again. He groaned once again before he finally spoke.
"Chace topped me last night and I'm getting the after effects. I never knew how painful this was. I feel bad with how rough I am to him." I raised an eyebrow and walked over to him.
"You've already made it that far, aye? I take it he took your virginity..." Brayson looked at the ground and shrugged as if there was more.
"I didn't know I took Chace's until last night. I just wanted him to feel like we were equal. I took both of his virginities and he took one of mine." The night where I nearly took one of Isaac's virginities flashed through my eyes. I remember how disappointed he was when I told him I couldn't. How would he react now? That's how it was going to work. I take both of his and he takes one of mine...
"That's good. I bet you didn't know that Izzy is a virgin. I remember the day we talked about it. It was about a week ago actually. I'm not going to tell you what led to it but I would most likely take both of his and he would take one of mine. It's only fair. Or at least that's what we tell ourselves. The real reason we let them do it is because we don't trust any other man to. We love them enough to let them take that part of us." Brayson looked me over before sighing and looking at the ceiling where the music notes were.
"I guess you're right. We all lie to ourselves about that. Our lives are only getting better and I wouldn't be any happier with him gone. If that guy..." I remembered Brett Daniel. He was a student for nearly a week when Chace came up to me. I had to get Brayson in a room with him to talk about it... That guy really did hurt Chace badly.
"He's gone. Not anywhere near here. I'd rather we not talk about him. I'm sure you feel the same." He nodded and stared at the ceiling for a while longer.
"Do you remember when you asked me stars or music notes?" I glanced over at him and saw him look over at me.
"I said music notes because in Chace's room at the orphanage his ceiling has music notes. He likes to try to read them." He gave an awkward laugh before setting my hand on his head.
"You two really are the true definition of love. You know that, right?" He looked up at me and laughed harder.
"Of course we are. I'd never give him up for my selfish desires. I love him with all my heart and I'd do anything for him." I smiled down at him and moved away to my desk.
"Maybe that's why everyone just knew Isaac and I were meant to be..." I picked up a picture I took of Isaac and looked it over. His expression was a little too happy and Andrew was sitting in his arms looking excited.
"No, everyone knew you two were meant to be because of how happy Isaac was around you. He used to be a grump. The only time he used to show that side of himself was in the office. I guess I have to thank you. You saved him." I shook my head and flopped down onto my seat.
"I'm glad I could meet him. I'm glad I make him happy, because he makes me happy too." Brayson smiled over at me and stood up.
"Has he talked to you about the kids?" I raised an eyebrow as he walked over to me.
"No, what kids?" Brayson frowned and leaned against my desk. He pulled out his phone and pulled up a picture of two boys from the orphanage... I couldn't remember their names.
"Damon and Jaimie. They're pretty close and Isaac originally planned to adopt them. There's only one problem." I looked at him feeling a little shocked. "Ms. Sutts won't let him. She refuses to give him the papers to sign. Isaac's probably stopped asking because there's not much room at your place but he still wants to adopt them." I thought about my options and decided on something.
"We should be able to get a bigger house if we combine our incomes. The only thing is that we need to find a house that's available." Brayson grinned and pulled up something else on his phone and showed it to me.
"It's not too far. It's about $700 a month. I've been looking and this looks like the only suitable one. Plus, it's in this school district." I looked over the house with interest. It was a small brick house with a good sized yard.
"That's not a big difference to my house now. How many rooms does it have?" He looked at his phone again and scrolled a little bit.
"There's four bedrooms. The boys will probably share a room so you'll have two spare rooms, but you can always find a use of those." I agreed. It was a decent size and it was a cute house.
"When are they doing open house?" Brayson looked over the page again.
"Tomorrow at five." I thought about how much time I'd have to stall.
"What's the address?" Brayson wrote it down and gave it to me. He looked very happy and excited.
"Are you going to bring Isaac with you?" I shook my head. I looked up at him from my seat and smiled at him.
"Even Isaac deserves a few surprises. You can get him to go to the orphanage tomorrow around that time, can't you?" He nodded and turned to the door.
"Don't worry, me and Chace will get him out of the house." I smiled and waved him out. I suddenly realized something.
"He didn't smell like pot..."
