Chapter Twenty-Five: Gift Arrangements
[Isaac Colten Sutts]
"So why are you two here again?" I asked as Brayson grinned and Chace focused on a pattern on the chair.
"We're here to figure out what you want for your birthday." Brayson chirped. I glared at them and walked around the kitchen.
"It can't be that bad! Come on. Just one gift from all of us." I shook my head and went over to Cilyn. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Don't come to me. I already plan on giving you ten gifts plus one. You're not getting out of it that easily." I scowled at all of them and hopped onto the counter.
"Can't we compromise?" Chace groaned out. I raised an eyebrow to him. "We fight every year. You always end up getting presents one way or another. This year isn't any different." Of course I knew he was right, I just hoped they'd give up one of these years.
"What do you suggest?" I grumbled out.
"Why don't we all give you one this year and next year we don't bring you anything. The year after that we bring you a gift and so on." I sighed and thought about it.
"The guys will never go for it." I could see his silent agreement.
"I guess you're stuck with pointless gifts. I've got nothing else." I sighed.
"Fine. I'll be stuck with one gift from each of you. I'm going to watch TV." I walked out of the living room only to hear Damon yell out that they'd be back. I chuckled and walked into the living room.
[Cilyn Carson]
"What are you getting him?" I looked at them and shrugged. I finished mixing the pancake batter before deciding to answer.
"For Valentine's I plan on getting him a lot of things. He loves the beach so I wanted to take him to an ocean themed café for lunch. After that I'm taking him to an ice skating rink. I'll give him a bouquet and a 3-pound bag of Hershey kisses. I've already got an art kit hidden for him. I'll be getting him a locket with us and the kids in it. That's about it. I'm going to get us a set of wedding rings, but I'm holding that off for another month. Then for his birthday I have something a little more special planned. I can still get him three things but I'm still thinking on those." The two stared at me in shock.
"What? Did he say wedding rings? He did, didn't he?" I looked between them as they turned away from me and talked quietly to themselves. They turned back to me with small smiles.
"I'm your best-man. You have no choice." I laughed and shook my head.
"I guess we'll have to make Chace Isaac's then. We can't have a man without his love." Chace blushed and looked away.
"So when do you plan on proposing?" I smiled at them and was about to speak when Isaac walked in. I flipped the pancakes that I was making and everyone got quiet. Isaac gave us a confused look before grabbing a water from the fridge and taking a seat at the table.
"Why's it so quiet? You guys were talking before I walked in..." I flipped the last pancake before turning to the boys and winking at them.
"We were talking about what we were getting you. We wouldn't want to spoil it." The boys smiled and nodded at him, even though he looked reluctant to believe it.
"Give me one hint." I shook my head to them and they laughed.
"Can't do that. We won't get the presents that you think we're getting." Isaac looked up at me and frowned. I leaned down and pecked his lips, but before I could pull away he held the back of my neck and kissed me harder.
"Eww! Dads are kissing!" I laughed and pulled away from Isaac to look up to the boys.
"How does the area look?" They shrugged and looked at the pancakes. I pulled two plates out and grabbed the peanut butter. I started to spread it onto them.
"It's got a bunch of kids around. We didn't stop to talk, though." They sat at the table and I set the plates down in front of them. I then grabbed the chocolate syrup and put it between them.
"Why not?" I asked as I handed them their forks and they were pouring chocolate over their food.
"We were hungry and we didn't feel like introducing ourselves." I laughed as the two began to eat their food.
"Am I forgiven?" They nodded and continued to eat.
"Told you kids didn't hate you. You just don't understand babies." I rolled my eyes and pointed at him.
"Andrew hates me. He loves you. Stop denying it." He waved me off and left the kitchen.
"Why do I want to marry him again?" The two laughed and shook their heads.
