Chapter Twenty-Two: Young Love is the Cutest Part One

[Cilyn Carson]

"What's your favorite type of candy?" I looked over at Isaac in confusion. He was looking at something on his phone and when I went to glance over he pulled it away.

"Why do you want to know?" He raised an eyebrow and when I went to look at his phone again he turned it off. I frowned and went to grab it but he pulled it out of my reach.

"I don't really like candy." He put his phone in his lap and stared at me.

"Everyone likes at least one type of candy. You've got to tell me yours!" I stared at him in the eye before taking his phone. Isaac reached for it to get it back but I was already standing. I quickly typed in his password to see a valentine delivery service. I couldn't help it, I laughed.

"We are not celebrating that way! We're going to go out the day before and find a gift separately. Gift baskets don't count." Isaac pouted and took his phone.

"Fine. We won't do gift baskets. We have to at least have a price limit." I shook my head. That wouldn't work.

"No price limit. We've known each other for nearly four months. I don't think we've ever really gone out to get each other presents, so this is the start. This will be the first time we get presents so we're going all out. There is a limit, just not in prices. We can't get more than ten presents for each other." Isaac's phone suddenly went off. He picked it up without looking at the caller.

"Hello? —I already told you I didn't want anything! –Yes, I'm sure—No—I swear to god if any of you get me something!" Isaac's eye twitched as the person responded.

"Everything alright?" Isaac hung up the phone and tossed it on the couch.

"Yeah. The guys just want to get me something for my birthday." I grinned and went over to him.

"You don't think I forgot about that do you? Valentine's day is a double holiday. Although I already planned on what I was giving you." He glared at me and shook his head.

"It's bad enough you plan on getting me ten gifts. I don't need anything else!" I only smiled at him.

"I don't plan on buying you a birthday gift. I plan on buying you Valentines. Your birthday gift is a bit different." He continued to glare at me when Damon came in followed by Jaimie. They looked between us in confusion.

"You two are pretty loud. I think you guys even beat the girls the guys used to bring home." Jaimie mumbled. I looked over at Isaac before laughing really hard. His face was a crimson red and his eyes were squeezed shut.

"Remind me to kill the guys later. I can't believe they do that." I laughed even harder. I was wheezing as Damon walked over to me and put his hand on my back trying to get me to calm down. I took slower, deeper breaths. I patted him on the head in thanks.

"Did they say anything in particular?" Damon looked thoughtful while Isaac went to hit me upside the head.

"Deeper and Oh God were the only ones I can remember." Damon mumbled while Jaimie came over to us and nodded before adding on to it.

"Right there and Harder were pretty popular too." I sputtered before kneeling down. Those boys defiantly got them some screamers. Isaac got a little redder and the two boys looked confused.

"Why are you laughing?" Damon was rubbing my back again. I calmed down and sat up straight. I pulled Isaac from his place and sat him on my lap. He turned around and wrapped his legs around me before stuffing his face in the crook of my neck.

"I'm laughing because those boys should at least try to keep them quiet." The two climbed up onto the couch and sat on either side of me.

"Why is Izzy doing that?" I looked over to see Isaac breathing in lightly. He looked uncomfortable.

"Because he's embarrassed. He doesn't like this topic. Why don't we talk about something else?" Damon looked down at his lap before speaking.

"It's almost Valentine's day." Jaimie turned away as if he knew what Damon was going to say and didn't like it.

"Three more days! Do you like anybody at school?" He blushed and looked down at his lap shyly, "Oh, so you do? What's their name?" He mumbled something but I couldn't hear him. "Sorry, what was that?" He leaned in and whispered in my ear.

"I like Jaimie." I raised an eyebrow. I looked over at Jaimie to see him scowling at the floor.

"Have you told them yet?" He shook his head and looked at the couch. "Why not? I'm sure they like you back." His eyes widened and he shook his head.

"N-no! He does-osnt like me like th-that!" I looked between them. I motioned Damon closer and leaned in.

"He looks a bit jealous. Maybe you should tell him." I whispered before pulling away. Damon looked down at the ground and Isaac suddenly sat up straighter with a red face. He moved off of me and went over to Jaimie.

"I'll talk to Jaimie. You guys talk and we'll see what we come up with." Jaimie looked confused but followed after Isaac.

"Now we can talk. So why do you think he doesn't like you that way?" He looked over to the door before shrugging.

"We're brothers. Best friends. He'd never like me like that." I raised an eyebrow and moved him to sit on my lap. He put his back to me and set his head on my shoulder.

"You'd be surprised. Sometimes best friends are the people you're destined to be with. I believe Isaac is my best friend. It worked out for us." He got off my lap and stood in front of me. The smile he gave me was a mix between shy and goofy and it made me smile.

"You think it'll really work out?" I shrugged.

"You won't know if you don't try. Why don't you lay down and talk to him when your dad and Jaimie get back?" He suddenly stopped and stared at me.

"Come on. They won't be long."
