Chapter Four: Think It Over, Drama in the Classroom
[Isaac Colten Sutts]
"Good morning Dr. Sutts. You seem to be happier. Can I ask why?" I looked up to see Dr. Noels at my door observing me. I laughed and gestured him inside.
"Just having a nice week I guess. I hadn't realized I ever looked unhappy." He looked around the room before taking a seat in the chair.
"It wouldn't be because of Mr. Carson, would it?" My eyes widened as I thought about what happened the day before.
"Maybe it is. Why do you ask?" He gave me a smile before answering.
"Because even you deserve love. Do you remember when you thought no one would look at you in a romantic way? Or how you thought people stared at you because you were weird? Well, now it's time to find that romance. Maybe it's with Mr. Carson. Never the less I think he's starting to see you in that way, but he's taking it slow and doesn't know what to call these emotions. He's used to being with a woman so he thinks he can only like women." I sighed and shook my head to his words.
"You and I both know that I shouldn't interact with a patient in that way." He only smiled and stood up.
"How do you think I met my husband? Just think it over. Give it a shot in a month or so. Maybe this is your time." I sat back in my chair and stared at Max.
"I'll think about it. You should head back to your office before your patients think you won't show." He shrugged and stood.
"It's not all that bad. It's just how you deal with it. Have a nice morning." I waved him off before getting my thoughts in check.
If we felt that way about each other I doubt either of us would admit it for months, and he has been with a woman for a long time. I frowned and looked over to the window. There's no possible way that he'd feel that way about me. I picked up the phone and dialed his cell number.
Ring—Ring—Ring "Hello?" I sighed feeling slightly relieved.
"Hey, It's Colt. I was wondering if I could stop by for lunch. I don't really have many patients today and I'm feeling kind of lonely." I heard a slight shift of movement and suddenly the sound of CC's voice yelling on the other line.
"Settle down! Do your work or all of you have a detention!" I cringed and suddenly remembered he was a teacher.
"Sorry, I didn't know you had a class right now." I heard him sigh.
"It's fine. The kids are just louder than usual. You wanted to stop by to have lunch?"
"Yeah, I'm not all that busy today. I could've taken the day off, to be honest." I heard him hum for a moment.
"Why don't you come by now and you can sit with me while I teach?" I thought for a moment.
"Sure, should I bring anything?"
"A box of donuts?" I laughed and agreed.
"Just send the address to my cell and I'll be on my way." He said an okay and hung up the phone. A few minutes later I was signing out of the wards and making my way down to the first floor. The Secretary seemed to stare at me but I only smiled.
"Hey, Heather. I'm taking the day off. I don't have any patients coming in today so I'm going to get some errands done. If any of my patients come by just have them call me," She stared at me more intently before giving a curt nod and watched as I left the building. I waved her goodbye and headed to my car. Maybe today wouldn't be as lonely as I originally thought.
