Chapter Fourteen: Worries Kill
[Cilyn Carson]
I haven't spoken to Isaac since I told him I loved him. Our schedules started to clash and he started to get busier at work. I stopped going in for sessions and he stopped coming to the house. It's been a week and I'm starting to freak out.
"You need to calm down Teach. He loves you. You know that, I know that. This is just one of his busier weeks. I remember he stopped coming by for a full two months because of this. It's going to be fine. Just call him and ask him if he's coming tonight. There's no way he's gonna say no." I looked at Brayson and saw him play with a key.
"Why are you holding that?" He looked up to me and shrugged.
"It's Isaac's house key. He gave them to me and Chace-Chace. I'm probably not supposed to say anything but he was planning to move in with you." I stare at him like he was stupid.
"Has Isaac been going to his house to sleep?" He shook his head.
"I imagine he was sleeping at the office or at yours. There's no other place he would go. He can't stand the orphanage for more than a few hours." I sighed and slumped in my seat.
"Where is he going to sleep at the office?" He smiled and shrugged.
"I'd say Dr. Noels office. He has a pretty comfortable couch there. If not there than his own office. That's it." I frowned as I thought about it.
"You said call him and he's sure to come?" He shrugged again and smiled at me.
"Call and find out. He might not be able to but he'll still try to come see you at some point in the week." I groaned and picked up my phone before dialing his number.
"Ring—Ring—Ring—Ring—Ring Sorry I'm with a patient right now. Leave a message and I'll get back to you!" My frown deepened as I started to talk into the receiver.
"Uh, Hey Izzy. It's CC. I was just uh... I mean I was wondering if you were coming home tonight? I-I god I miss you. I love you. I hope to see you soon." I frowned and hung up the phone.
"He didn't answer." Brayson frowned.
"He didn't answer? That's unusual. Did you call his office or his cell?" I looked at the number and I saw that it was his office number.
"Maybe I should call his cell." He nodded and watched as I picked the phone back up and dialed his number.
"Ring—Ring—Ring..." "Hello?" A groggy voice said.
"I uh, Isaac?" I heard him hum for a second.
"Yeah?" I frowned even more.
"Are you coming home tonight?" I think he just realized where he was and what time it was.
"Oh my god! I'm late for a session! I'll talk to you tonight!" I frowned as he hung up the phone.
"He answered that time. He sounded half asleep then he started freaking out about being late for a session." Brayson frowned too and looked over at the phone.
"Someone must've quit or retired." I looked over to him.
"Who would do that?" He shrugged.
"The only person I know of that's old enough to retire is Dr. Noels. I doubt he'd retire though. He loves his job and has to support two kids."
"Maybe we should go over there after school... I can't stand being without him and he's over working himself." Brayson nodded and slipped the key into his pocket.
"So why did he give you and Chace the keys?" Brayson looked over at me before laughing.
"You're not the only one allowed to fall in love are you?" I raised an eyebrow before looking at the ceiling.
"Stars or music notes?" he looked up at the ceiling.
"What?"
"What should I put on the ceiling? Stars or music notes?"
"He really is flipping your life around. Do music notes." I smiled and nodded.
"They'll be up by next week." He sighed and stared at the ceiling.
"How long have you loved Chace?" He thought for a minute.
"I guess ever since I met him. Ever since I was put into that orphanage. He was the only one my age. He was shy and small. He used to hide behind me and when he was nearly adopted he backed out of it. When I asked him why he said he couldn't leave me behind. So we started to dream about living together when we grew up." He had a light smile.
"You this is the happiest I've seen you. Behind all the weed and girls, you're running. But right now, as I look at you, you look truly happy." He looked at me and shrugged.
"I was hiding. I didn't tell Chace my feelings till last week. I always thought he was the one hiding but the truth was that I'm the one hiding." He smiled.
"I'm glad everyone is able to find love." We both looked up at the ceiling when my phone rang. I picked it up and set it to my ear.
"Mr. Carson speaking."
"CC? Can you come pick me up?" I looked over to the clock.
"Why what's wrong?"
"He's here. CC he's here!" I frowned as I stood and waved for Brayson to follow me.
"Who is? Who's there?" I heard a sob and a choking sound when a gun shot went throughout the line.
"He's here! Taylor's dad is here!" My eyes widened as I stopped what I was doing.
"What do you mean he's there!" I started to walk out of the room and went towards the office.
"He's here! He said he's not leaving till I give him Andrew! I don't know what to do!" I started to walk faster.
"You stay hidden and you don't let him touch my son. I need you to call 911." I heard him sob again as he answered.
"I already did. I don't know what else to do!" I made it to the office and saw Brayson was behind me.
"We have a family emergency can you call Chace Cooper to the office?" The woman looked confused but went over to the receiver.
"Will Chace Cooper come to the office for dismissal please? Chace Cooper, Please." She walked back over to her desk and handed me the sign out papers.
"Just sign your names and go."
"CC? Are you there?"
"Yes, I'm right here. I'm signing out right now." I heard another shot fire before the line went dead.
"Fuck!" Brayson looked worried.
"What's going on?" I shook my head. I felt sick. I knew he was alive, but I was scared he was hurt.
"Hey? Why am I being dismi— "He looked at us and frowned.
"We need to go now." I walked over to the door and they followed me.
"Come on Cilyn. What's going on?" I wanted to cry as we entered my car.
"Isaac's father isn't exactly friendly." They looked confused as I pulled out of the school drive way.
"What do you mean?" I sighed and sped through the roads.
"His biological father is a cruel man. When we last met him he was spewing about how he hoped his daughter never got to meet her twin brother, which is Isaac. Amanda divorced him because he killed someone and I have a feeling he's going after Isaac or my son next." They watched as I ran a red light and went into the wrong lane to get passed other cars. I passed a green light and made it to the hospital.
I turned in my seat to face the two boys. "Don't leave the car. If I'm not out of there within the hour you drive away and don't look back." I opened my door as they began their protests but I slammed the door shut and ignored them. I ran inside and what I saw made me sick...
