Chapter14

Romeo POV
"Romeo, I'm really sorry. Just know, I'll always love you and you've given me the perfect boy anyone could ever ask for. Whenever I used to look at him when he was newborn, he's remind me of you." Ruby wiped her tears.

I pulled her into a hug and dried her tears.

"It's okay." I sighed.

He gave the lil dude a kiss on the cheek, lip and forehead before leaving. I walked her to the door and then closed it afterwards.

I walked back into the living room and the little boy was awake and he looked scared.

"Mama.." He said quietly.

I rubbed the back of my neck then spoke to him.

"Hey erm..Raymond. It's daddy." I said.

He stopped crying then look at me for a while.

"Daddy?" He pouted.

"Yeah, it's me." I put my arms out.

He came over and gave me a hug.

I noticed Mercedes smiling before she headed back upstairs. I carried Raymond up to my room and sat him on my bed. I removed his coat and shoes. I looked over at Mercedes who was lying in bed.

"You asleep yet?" I asked.

"Mhm.." She said quietly.

"I know how your feeling right now, and I'm sorry. But I swear, I didn't know that I had a son. Ruby didn't even tell me that she was pregnant." I sighed.

"I ain't mad, I wasn't there at the time. I'm just..I don't know." She shrugged.

"I love you, okay?" I stroked her hair.

"I know you do. I'm not mad at you Romeo." She smiled.

I got up and went downstairs to the little bag that belonged to Raymond. I went back upstairs and saw him laughing with Mercedes.

"He's so cute!" She cooed.

"His mama is so pretty too but I don't know about you.." She made a face.

I laughed at her jokes before picking my son up.

I went into the bathroom with him and removed his clothes. I ran the bath water and waited for it to get warm. I put him inside and began to bathe him.

This is me now stepping up to become a father. I wasn't there at the birth, his first birthday and all that shit. Imma treat him right now that I know he's mine.

"Tired." He said.

"I know you are little man." I smiled.

I carried him out of the bath and dried him up. I then helped him wear his pyjamas and we walked into the guest room.

"Okay, you gon' sleep here, okay?" I told him.

"You sleep with me." He said.

"Me?" I pointed at myself.

He nodded his head and smiled.

"Ight, I'm gonna go and take a shower." I told him.

I turned on the Tv and he began to watch his little kiddie shows.

I walked into my room and told Mercedes about me going to sleep with Ray. She said it was fine but I knew she was a little hurt.

I shook my head as I walked in the room to join my son.

Mercedes POV
"Good morning." I smiled at both Raymond and Romeo.

"Morning." Romeo smiled at me.

"Hi." Raymond smiled shyly.

"I was gonna make y'all breakfast but I need to head out to my moms house." I grabbed my duffle bag which had my clothes in.

"Oh, okay. I'll call you, okay?" He kissed my cheek.

"Hm.." I nodded my head.

I gave Raymond a hug and then left the house. I called a uber earlier on so it could come and pick me up.

"Miss Hamilton?" The guy said.

"Yeah, it's me." I nodded my head.

"Shit, what are you gonna do?" Honey asked.

I looked at her and my mother.

"I really don't know." I sighed.

"Well, how do you feel?" My mom asked.

"I love him so much ma, I really do! I just..I just feel like he's gonna be so attracted to his son more than me." I sighed.

"Listen, it's okay to be feeling jealous but, just know that it's his son Mercedes. His own flesh and blood." My mom held my hand.

"Do you like having his son around?" Honey asked.

"I've only met him yesterday but Raymond is a sweet little boy. His mama is real nice too. She ain't like them ratchet hoes that pop up to the houses and be like, 'here's yo' son take care of it'." I said.

"So, what are you gonna do then?" My mom asked.

"I'm gonna be there for Romeo. But these times, I just wish I hadn't have had that abortion." I shook my head.

After we talked for a while, we finished up our coffee and we went our separate ways.

As I was driving, I felt a little weird. It's because of how I'm feeling. I know I wasn't there when Romeo was with Ruby but it still breaks my heart knowing that I really love this man but he has a child with somebody else.

My phone rang as it sat on the passengers seat. I looked over at the caller ID and saw an unknown number. I didn't know if I should pick it up or not? But then again, it could be one of my clients.

"Hello?" I answered.

"We need to talk." I heard Tariq's deep voice.

"Talk about what? And how the hell did you get my number?" I smacked my teeth.

"You happy with the money that you got?" He asked.

"Yes I am thank you very much." I rolled my eyes.

"Meet me at my house at 5:30." He said.

After that, I hung up.

I don't know why he wants to talk but Imma go ahead and see. If it has anything to do with any drugs, I'm dipping out.

It was nearly 5:30 so I just drove to his house anyways. His house was a little far though, it wasn't around where I lived. He had this big ass house where I used to live with him.

Tariq had plenty of money but he used to splash it on hoes, strippers and alcohol. I just sat on the sidelines watching him do the dirty work.

I knocked on the door and it slowly opened revealing himself. He was still that caramel goodie.

"Wassup?" He tried to give me a hug.

"You said we needed to talk, not touch." I stepped back.

"Whatever.." He mumbled.

I stepped into his house and it still smelt the same, drugs.

I heard heels clicking on the floor indicating that there was a female in here.

"Baby, where did you-..what is she doing here?".

It was Winter.

"I didn't know you was with Tariq." I smirked.

Can't wait for him to do the bitch wrong.

"Y'all know each other?" He looked confused.

"Unfortunately, yes." I nodded my head.
