Clary got to the Institute as fast as possible. By the time she got on the elevator, her red curls were plastered to her forehead and she was fighting to catch her breath.
The elevator opened to none other than Church trying to take a "well deserved" nap. She wanted to curl up next to the feline, but thought better of it.
She was running down the hallway to Izzy's room when she saw Alec. He had rings under his eyes. He had been crying. His hair was awry. He looked like someone had died.
"What's going on? What's wrong?" She asked.
"What do you mean?" was all he could say before a flustered Isabelle almost ran into them.
"The library! Now!" She said between breaths as she spun on her heel and flounced away.
Clary ran after her, Alec not far behind. They burst through the doors and Clary tried to not to look as anxious as she felt. Jace, Brother Zachariah, and Mayrse were all staring at the floor. Following their gaze, Clary saw two lumps on the floor. Wings. She figured out. Alec stiffened beside her and Isabelle tried to suppress a gasp.
Jace looked even more angry then usual. She understood why as soon as the note was passed to her. Three little words scribbled on a piece of paper.
I am coming.
Sebastian.
He was coming. Coming to the Institute. Coming to her home. No wonder Jace was so angry, so was she.
She could feel tears starting to form in her eyes. There was no way she could be so weak in front of everyone. She dropped the note and ran through the library doors just as the first tear made its way down her cheek.
