Jace's nerves were through the roof. He had woken up in a cage. He made an attempt to stand up and was dragged back down by the shackles on his wrists and ankles.

He tugged at the chains aimlessly already making the skin underneath them bleed.

Clary. She ran through his mind over and over again. What had happened to her while he wasn't there. Was everyone else in chains too?

He had to put his thoughts elsewhere. He looked around the room. There was a barred window with runes to small too see. All the walls were molded and damp. The door looked thicker with more support than even the cells in the City of Bones. He did another glance around the cell and noticed a figure in the back corner.

He leaned to the right so he could see her better. Her face was covered by her curly hair but Jace knew exactly who it was.

A few minutes went by and nothing happened. That's when Maia's eyes shot open and she tried to leap up only to see she was tethered down.

He could only think of two things:

1) People returning from the dead doesn't seem unlikely anymore

2) She was tied up with rope

Jace remembered Sebastian. Remembered following him. Remembered getting knocked out when he lost him.

If this was Sebastian's doing, he had almost no doubt, he would've used something stronger than rope. Silver or even metal but not rope. Jace was sure of it.

He sat there confused. Feeling almost dazed. He examined the chain on his own wrist to see tiny points of metal surrounding the inside where his wrist was.

He was already numb to the pain that shot through his wrists every time he pulled. He knew it was pointless pulling, but if he just sat there he would feel like there was no hope.

"Jace." Maia spoke up timidly.

He looked over to her. Her eyes were filled with fear. That wasn't like the Maia he knew. She would put on a brave front no matter what she felt inside. She would think of plans, useless stupid ones, but they usually sparked other ideas.

"Where are we?" she asked her voice shaking.

He looked at the floor. If Maia was this scared he knew something had to happen. Maybe Clary didn't see it right. Maybe Maia never died. Maybe he was being delusional and she was a demon.

He couldn't quite figure it out. But he couldn't remember what she had said, he was focusing on something else. Footsteps that echoed in the hallway.

He masked all of his mixed up emotions and made an unreadable, stony face. He listened more keenly. The person wasn't walking. They were...?

Maureen skipped into sight. She wore a huge smile along her face showing her unsheathed fangs. He hoped he didn't show he was disappointed to see her. He wanted answers and he knew a little schoolgirl wouldn't give them to him.

"He said you have other places to be." She unlocked the door foolishly. If only Jace could break out and run. He wouldn't though. He'd need to solve a rather tall, pale, freaking pain of a problem first.

Jace had expected Maureen was talking about him but really wasn't surprised when Maia stood up snapped the rope with pure force and walked out of the cage with the vampire.

"Don't worry Jace." She turned to look at him. "I'll say hello to your family too." She giggled and ran to catch up with Maureen as Jace returned to pulling on the shackles, only more violently now.

Clary ran back upstairs. Everything with the new people showing up and Jace and Luke is just too much. When she slammed her door shut, she saw a note scribbled on it.

She leaned in and nearly had a heart attack, she was so overwhelmed.

Don't worry, dear. This time a war will be in the comfort of your own home.

Yeah! I'm trying so hard to update. These probably suck because I haven't proofed them. I just publish them once I'm done. Whoops!

I know this is a bit of a filler but the next few will be pretty... interesting

Hope you have a nice day Shadowhunters! Read on!
