The longer he stared, the more he couldn't believe it. Clary, his Clary, dead on the floor. It wasn't plausible. No. It couldn't be her. If Jace knew one thing, it was that Sebastian loves Clary. He wouldn't kill her just to get under his skin.

And that was all he could think as he felt fire pump through his veins faster and faster.

"That's not possible!" Brittany exclaimed taking in the sights around her. "Vampires can't be in Idris unless..."

"Unless they are on the Council." Izzy replied. "So we can either ask permission for you to stay or you can shut up so we don't get caught."

"Well don't sugar coat it." Jadilyn muttered bitterly.

With a shrug Isabelle said "It's your choice, really. But you're no use to us dead."

"That's enough Isabelle." Mayrse snapped.

"It's true." She said before crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at her mother.

"I will notify Council of your whereabouts. Until I return, you must all remain in the Inquisitors house." Mayrse said swiftly and marched away even though Isabelle called after her: "That's a horrible idea!"

Clary was looking around the streets of Idris. It was never really foreign to her. But she can't ever just see the beautiful place it is because she can't forget that she met Sebastian here. She let him trick her. She was foolish not to put a dagger in his back then and there.

She couldn't help feeling a pang of guilt after she thought that. She could bet the real Sebastian would've been a great Shadowhunter. And he's dead. Probably face down in a river somewhere. He had done nothing horribly wrong that made him a target. He was convenient to Jonathan--

"Clary?" Simon asked tugging at her arm and snapping her out of her reverie.

She looked at him and put on a fake smile that he saw right through. In fact, she could see the crease of worry on his forehead become more prominent. "Are you alright? You seem like you're, you know, lost in space or something."

"Yeah I'm fine. It's just," she involuntarily sighed and thought about how cheesy she probably sounded. "I guess it's just a lot to handle. With Jace and Sebastian." She cut herself short as Alec and Isabelle mounted the stairs of a house not unlike all the others. But Clary knew this was where their father had been for the past few months.

The door was unlocked and they walked right in and settled down quickly. They ate or slept or got their weapons ready but Clary wasn't in the mood for any of that.

She found herself sitting in the attic and looking through a finely dusted bin. She pulled out a few random things; wooden swords, a rocking horse, and a colouring book. She sifted through the piles and found something that piqued her interest.

There was a dagger. Wiped clean of any family markings but when she turned it, in certain lighting, it looked like it had a bird on it; or was it a different animal? She really couldn't tell. The dagger came with a sheath and she gladly equipped it.

Then, something out the window caught her eye. Clary could see from her viewpoint a familiar dark, tiny figure that seemed to be limping its way towards the house.

She bolted down the two flights of stairs, causing quite a ruckus as she went, and swung open the front door to see the same brown eyes she had expected from the window.

With a sharp intake, she breathed out,
"Maia?"
