"So, we are actually going to Earth in about a year? As in ten to twelve months from now?" Ruby asked.
"Unbelievable, right? Anyways, we have to meet up with Blue Diamond in half an hour. I'm going to go get ready," Sapphire opened the door to her room.
Ruby nodded, watching Sapphire close her door. Ruby sighed, walking up to her own room. When she got inside she plopped down on her own bed, running her fingers through her thick hair. Her eyes found their way to a picture of Steven laughing. She let out a muffled groan and turned away.
Ruby stayed like that for a few minutes until she started dozing off.
"Ruby," Sapphire called out. Ruby's eyes flew open. She groaned, not wanting to leave the comfort of her bed. She dug her face into her pillows.
"I heard that," Sapphire said.
"I know!" Ruby replied, removing her head from the pillows so it didn't come out muffled. Her door opened and Sapphire walked in.
"Come on, Ruby, we have to go," Sapphire said. Ruby said something, but it came out muffled.
"What?"
"I said, leave me alone," she mumbled.
"Ruby, we don't have time for this. They're waiting for us!" Sapphire grabbed Ruby's ankle and practically dragged her out of bed.
Ruby groaned when she started feeling her comfortable bed slowly leaving her. Ruby fell on the floor, frustrating Sapphire. Sapphire glared at Ruby which just made her laugh.
"Okay, okay. I'm going, I'm going," Ruby muttered, starting her way down the stairs.
Sapphire smiled at her victory and followed her. They left the sanctuary and hopped onto a warp pad. They teleported away.
"Why are you like this?" Sapphire jested.
"It's just who I am, I guess," Ruby replied, shrugging.
Sapphire giggled, "I like you better this way."
"Really?" Ruby looked at Sapphire. She noticed something different about her.
"Hey, you sort of straightened your hair," she mentioned."Hm? Oh, I tried to straighten it, but my hair wasn't cooperating with me, so I just left it like this. It doesn't look bad, does it?" Sapphire asked. She took a piece of her hair and started running her fingers through it.
"No, not at all. You actually look even more beautiful than you already are." Sapphire smiled and blushed. Ruby resisted the urge to touch Sapphire's hair. She couldn't help but examine how it was straight with a few waves popping out. She looked away, blushing.
The warp pad stopped in front of a large, blue building.
"We're here!" Ruby and Sapphire hopped off the warp pad and made their way to the facility. Gems of all types were walking in and out of the facility. One thing these gems all had in common was that they were either guards or important ranks. Ruby took Sapphire's hand and led her inside.
There was already a huge crowd of gems gathered inside. There was a stage where Holly Blue was standing next to Blue Diamond's palanquin. Amethyst, Rose Quartz, and Jasper guards were surrounding the palanquin, weapons out and ready in a case of an attack.
"How are we going to get through this crowd," Sapphire asked.
"I have a way," Ruby cleared her throat. "A Sapphire needs to pass through!" Ruby yelled as loudly as she could. All the gems went quiet. They all eyed Sapphire making her uncomfortable. They started moving out of the way, making a path to the stage.
