Sorry for the late update. I was having a bit of a writer's block. I'm really sorry about that. I tried getting it out as soon as I could.
"Sapphire!" Amethyst shouted.
Sapphire shot up from the bed, gasping for air. She looked at Amethyst before wiping the sweat off her face. Amethyst sighed.
"That has got to be at least the one thousandth time you've screamed and shouted Ruby's name during your sleep? It's been three days, Sapphire! Is something bothering you?" Amethyst asked, placing a comforting hand on Sapphire's shoulder.
"My dreams...Ruby's memories. Some are so calm and happy, but some of them are dreadful and horrible. The pain she has gone through is terrible," Sapphire replied.
There was a short silence in the room.
"What memories?"
"Ones with her and Steven," Sapphire answered.
"No wonder they're bad..."
Sapphire looked over to where Ruby's gemstone was located.
She asked, "does she usually take this long?"
Amethyst shrugged. "Sometimes. It's only been three days...and she has been wounded pretty badly. It'll take her some time to recover."
Sapphire nodded in agreement. "It's my fault she's hurt anyway," she mumbled.
Amethyst stayed silent for she did not know what to say. They stayed in an awkward silence for a few minutes. Sapphire was thinking, trying to look into the future to see the outcome of when Ruby comes back. Though, Sapphire couldn't see that far due to the unpredictable outcome. She was pretty sure Ruby would be mad when she came back, anyway.
"You want me to go so you could sleep some more," questioned Amethyst causing Sapphire to snap out of her thoughts.
"Yes, please," she answered hesitantly.
Amethyst nodded, "try not to scream this time."
Sapphire chuckled lightly, watching her leave.
As soon as the door closed, Sapphire plopped down on Ruby's bed. She sighed heavily, looking back at her gemstone.
Still not reforming.
She got into a comfortable position and closed her eyes. She felt her body relax and her hair brush away from her eye, ever so slightly.
She walked down the beach, sweat dripping down her face. She was afraid. The piece of paper in her hand only making things worse.
Ruby?
She continued walking. She was looking for him. Her face looked beyond worried. That would be an understatement if actually said. She stopped, trying to listen for any faint noises.
"Steven!" She shouted with her hands cupped around her mouth.
Again, she stood still, listening, but all she heard was her echoes. She growled, her fists trembling. The ball of paper in her hand crinkled even more. She recognized that handwriting. Hell knows what she could be doing to Steven.
"Where are they," she muttered to herself.
She stopped abruptly, swearing she heard somebody yelling her name.
"Ruby," the silence replaced with an echo.
"Steven? Steven!?" She yelled once more.
"Ruby, please, help!!!"
Her expression turned worried. She was even more afraid now. She ran under the boardwalk of the beach, ignoring the tears that had slid down her fiery cheeks.
