'Trust, respect, loyalty, and patience. The key components that are needed in a successful relationship,' the words ran through Sapphire's mind. 'Ruby...'

Sapphire released a sigh. She looked at Jasper who was in the middle of a paragraph, probably bragging about how she was promoted to Yellow Diamond's personal guard. It's not like she cared.

'I can't just listen in on what she's saying now...I'll be so confused. I wonder what Ruby is doing right now. She's probably really mad at me right now. I would be too if she went out on a date with somebody else after I just confessed how I feel. I'm so stupid...why would I just leave her like that.."

Sapphire started hearing a faint chant of her name

"Sapphire? Sapphire. Sapphire!"

Sapphire was snapped out of her thinking trance with a small gasp that escaped her lips. She looked up at Jasper who was waving a hand in front of her face.

"Are you alright? You looked like you were thinking too much," Jasper said.

"Oh, I was thinking but I don't think I was thinking too much," Sapphire shrugged.

Jasper looked at her with curiosity, "Do you mind telling me what you were thinking of?"

"Oh, um...the main things needed in a relationship. You aren't against gems being in love with others gems, are you?" Sapphire asked, now uneasy of what she had just said.

"Well, I asked you out on a date, didn't I? Of course, I'm not against it," Jasper chuckled.

Sapphire released a small nervous laugh. She had that strange feeling like eyes were watching her. She looked at the corner of her eye to see a Quartz gem entering an arena.

"Hey, do you ever have that strange feeling where you think you're being watched?" Sapphire questioned.

"I've had that feeling before, which I actually was being watched, but let's just say I took care of it," Jasper winked. "Do you feel like you're being watched right now? Is that why you asked?"

Sapphire shifted in her seat. She slowly nodded her head. She turned her head, but all she saw were gems walking around, some chatting with each other and others walking in and out of spires and fighting arenas. Then she saw her.

"Lapis?" Sapphire whispered to herself.

"Lapis..." Jasper mumbled under her breath, her eyes widening.

Once Lapis saw that Sapphire noticed her, she walked over to her.

"Hey, Sapphire," Lapis greeted, a bit of annoyance in her voice.

"Hello...Lapis," Sapphire mumbled.

"Can we talk for a second?" Before Lapis could even get an answer from Sapphire, she grabbed her wrist and dragged her away from the table. Lapis took Sapphire into an empty spire. Lapis pushed Sapphire down in a seat trapping both of her wrists down in the seat so she didn't try to escape.

"What are you doing there with her?! Didn't Ruby tell you anything?" Lapis yelled.

"W-what...wh-who are you t-talking about?" Sapphire stammered.

"Jasper! Who else would I be talking about? Sapphire, you are in great danger and you need to get away from her immediately. Stop falling for her false act," warned Lapis.

"I-I don't understand. Why do you guys want me to stay away from her so badly?" Sapphire rose her voice up a bit.

"You should already know Ruby's reason! My reason is I was in a bad relationship with her. You are out on a date with her meaning she is most likely going to confess her false feelings for you. Then if you don't feel the same way, she'll shatter you! If you say you do feel the same way, congratulations! You just got yourself into an abusive relationship!" Lapis explained.

"I'm not going to say yes...I already love somebody else," Sapphire mumbled.

"Then you might as well call yourself dead," Lapis sneered.

"But what if she changed?"

"She hasn't, believe me. Gems don't change. You can't always be right about everything, Sapphire," Lapis sympathized.

"I-I don't know what to say. What'll happen if I try to get out of it right now?" Sapphire asked.

Lapis shook her head, "there's no getting out of this. You'd be lucky enough to even get out of the situation alive. You got yourself into this mess, now you gotta find a way to get yourself out. The best you can hope for is somebody coming to your rescue. Until then, you're on your own."

Lapis released Sapphire and flew out of the spire, leaving her alone. For the first time, Sapphire couldn't stay calm. She started thinking of all the things Ruby had told her about Jasper, all the warnings and why she didn't want her to talk to Jasper. Sapphire ran her fingers through her hair. She jumped when she heard the door to the spire open and Jasper walked in.
************
Lapis was looking down at the ground. She gasped and skidded to a stop when Ruby ran out of Sapphire's sanctuary.

"Ruby!" Lapis shouted.

She looked up at the sky and saw Lapis. She flew down to the ground.

"Ruby, I saw Sapphire," Lapis informed.

Ruby's eyes widened. "Wh-where is she?!"

"She's at the spire near the warp center. I talked to her about Jasper, and somehow Jasper found out what I told her. She's too afraid of me, but Sapphire is in great danger," Lapis exclaimed, worryingly.

"Wait, what did you two even talk about?" Ruby asked.

"I warned her about how dangerous Jasper can be. She has no way out of this situation," Lapis sighed.

"And...what did she say?"

"She tried avoiding the truth, but now...she's not so sure. She's worried," Lapis stated.
"Also...I told her that Jasper is going to ask to be in a relationship with her.'

"What!" Ruby shouted.

"But...Sapphire said she was going to say no to her. Good news, she said she already loved someone else. I wonder who she could be thinking of," Lapis said, smirking.

Ruby blushed and looked away. She shook the thought out of her head and focused. "Okay, what about the bad news?"

"Bad news, if Sapphire rejects Jasper, she's going to shatter her. Get over to the spire immediately and save Sapphire," Lapis commanded.

Ruby nodded and smiled, "thank you for telling me, Lapis. I owe you one."

"The only thing you owe me is you saving Sapphire."
**********
"J-Jasper," Sapphire took a step back.

"I heard what you guys were talking about. You don't believe her, do you," Jasper softly spoke. She kneeled down so she was at Sapphire's height. She got dangerously close to Sapphire's face.

"I-I don't know what to believe. I barely know you," Sapphire admitted.

"Sapphire, I have to tell you something," Jasper muttered.

'Oh no...' the words repeated in Sapphire's mind.

Jasper grabbed a hold of Sapphire's tiny hands.

"I...I love you, Sapphire," Jasper blurted out.

There was a silence that overtook the spire.

"N-no...you don't..." Sapphire whispered.

"What was that?"

"I-I...d-don't know w-what to s-say..." Sapphire stuttered.

"Actions speak louder than words," Jasper said.

She placed her thumb under Sapphire's chin and lifted her face up. Sapphire's breathing hitched and she panicked, not knowing what to do for the first time in her life. She felt like she was alone despite Jasper being right in front of her. Slowly, Jasper started to lean in. Though, Sapphire wasn't thinking about the gem in front of her. Jasper's face got closer and closer to Sapphire's. Their lips were about to touch until words escape from Sapphire's mouth that shouldn't have escaped at all.

"Oh, Ruby..."
