Chapter 12

"Alright, next question! Favorite book genre?" Ruby asked.

"Hmm. That's actually pretty hard. Uh, I'm going to have to go with...romance and action," Sapphire replied.

"I agree. Though mystery and thriller are slightly better. So is the adventure genre. I love books in general in all honesty," Ruby said.

"So do I! It passes time and it keeps me entertained. I used to read a lot since I always had nothing to do besides using my future vision for other gems," Sapphire agreed.
"How long has it been since we've been out here?"

Ruby released a snorted chuckle. "About two hours...Oh man, that laugh was ugly," Ruby laughed at herself.

"That laugh was adorable! We've been talking for two hours? Are you sure? It felt like we've only been talking for a few minutes," Sapphire assumed.

"Yeah, no. It had to be at least an hour or more. We've been talking a lot and for a long time. My laughs aren't cute at all..."

"Really? Well, I could see why it seemed so short. I love talking to you...even more than before. I feel like I can talk to you about anything. You're cute in general so shut up!"

A blush crept onto Ruby's face. "I-I feel the same way! That was so nice and yet so rude at the same time Sapphire."

Both Ruby and Sapphire started giggling. Ruby stood up, brushing off any dirt that had landed onto her outfit. She walked towards Sapphire and held her hand out.

"Let's go home," Ruby said.

"Carry me home," Sapphire commanded.

Ruby raised an eyebrow, making sure Sapphire was serious.

"Yes, I'm serious!" Sapphire held both of her arms out.

Ruby sighed, not believe what was happening. She kneeled down and slipped a hand on Sapphire's back and another behind her knees. Carefully, Ruby lifted Sapphire off the ground.

"You good?" Ruby questioned.

Sapphire nodded, wrapping her arm around Ruby's neck. She started speed walking towards the warp pad. Sapphire starting snuggling closer to Ruby which made her even redder than she already was. Sapphire noticed and started laughing.

"What's so funny?" Ruby asked. She activated the warp pad.

"You're blushing extremely hard, that's what's funny," Sapphire giggled.

Ruby inhaled hard. "Well...t-this is r-r-really awkward for m-me," Ruby stammered.

"That's because you're making it awkward, Ruby."

"Hey, I'm an awkward person. Don't judge me," Ruby laughed.

"I like it when you laugh at yourself. You're more confident than you think, you know," Sapphire pointed out.

"Yeah, I kind of started to notice."

The warp pad stopped. Ruby hopped off and started walking towards the sanctuary. When they arrived, Jasper was at the door. It looked like she was waiting for Sapphire. Jasper then noticed Ruby and Sapphire approaching and her eyes lit up.

"Why, hello Sapp--hire," Jasper looked disgusted and jealous at the fact that Sapphire was being carried 'bridal style' by Ruby. Of all gems, a Ruby. Ruby noticed her disgusted expression and smirked at her. Jasper squinted her eyes and growled.

"Oh, hi Jasper!" Sapphire exclaimed.

"Are you doing anything today," Jasper asked.

"Umm...actually," Sapphire began. She looked at Ruby. Ruby gave her a small smile which caused Sapphire to blush.
