"Look, I get that you just turned your humanity switch back on and everything but I'm gonna need you to stop being so sensitive so you can do the damn spell, Nayeli." Kai rolled his eyes.

"You're right. I'm sorry." I apologized.

"Sorry's not good enough for me sweet cheeks. Now here's what's going to happen.." He stood up and walked into the other room before turning around to face me. "Come."

I got up as well, following him into the other room. Or at least, I tried to. But there was something blocking me. "Kai.. I can't."

He chuckled with a grin on his face. "Oh, I know. I put a sealing spell keeping vampires, that would be you, out of this room. You are going to figure out a way to undo this spell so you can come in."

I rolled my eyes before turning around to grab the grimoire, only to realize that it wasn't there.

"Looking for this?" Kai called out with a teasing smile, holding the book I was looking for. "You're going to do the spell from memory. Gee, I really hope this works, I used the rest of the magic I stole from you for this. Eh."

"God, you're such an asshole you know that?" I crossed my arms.

"Hey, Hey. No need for the name calling. I'm only helping you get better." He winked at me.

My heart fluttered but I cleared my throat and turned away from him.

An unsealing spell. I knew this one. I just couldn't quite remember.

Come on, Nayeli.

I inhaled and exhaled and closed my eyes before chanting the words of the spell.

"Phasmatos Siprum, Emnis Abortum, Fasila Quisa Exilum San."

I opened my eyes and turned around to Kai with a smile. I took a deep breath before walking through with no problem.

I placed my hands on my hips and smiled at him with pride.

He clapped his hands slowly. "Good Job, Eli. That was only the easiest spell ever." He said.

I rolled my eyes. "Give me something harder then."

"Since you asked so nicely." He smirked.

"Not that you perv. A harder spell."

He shrugged before picking up the grimoire again, his eyes scanning for spells.

I took that time to admire him. Ever since Kai convinced me to turn my humanity back on I've been feeling differently towards him. I mean don't get me wrong, I still thought he was a huge dick. But now I just think he's a cute, tolerable dick.

"You're staring.." He mumbled, not looking up at me.

I felt my cheeks heat up and I looked everywhere but him.

"Here, come with me." He held my hand and led me out of the house.

I tried not to let my feelings get the best of me.

He stopped and let go of my hand, kneeling down and picked up a dead flower.

He turned to me and handed me the plant. "Revive it."

I looked from him to the plant with a smirk, "This is supposed to be hard?" I rose an eyebrow.

"Just do the damn spell."

I sighed before closing my eyes. "Phasmatos Tribum, P-Plantus-" I stuttered when I felt Kai's hot breath on my neck from behind me.

His finger trailed up my arm, "Am I distracting you?" His lips brushed against my ear.

I took a deep breath and focused on the spell and tried again. "Phasmatos Tribum, Plantus Vivifey, Plantus Herbus." I chanted and peeked one eye open and my heart raced with excitement when I saw the plant grow back into a beautiful flower.

Kai moved to face me, smiling at the plant. "You're actually getting better.. who would've thought?" He walked back inside the house.

I walked in after him, one thought in my mind. "Kai." I called out.

"What." He said not looking up from the grimoire.

"What did you do to be in here?" I asked him.

I've gone three years still wondering how the hell he got in here in the first place. No matter how many times I bring up the subject he refuses to answer or changes the subject at hand.

He stopped searching in through the book and looked up at me. I couldn't tell if he was annoyed or angry.

"When are you going to stop asking me that?"

"When you answer the damn question." I crossed my arms.

He placed the grimoire on the kitchen counter. "Fine. Since you won't shut the hell up about it."

He stared me in the eyes before saying, "I killed my family. Most of them anyway."

My heart began to race and my eyes widened. "You're joking right?"

He rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Does it look like I'm joking, Eli? I wouldn't be stuck here with you if I was."

"I have a twin sister. Spoiler: She's also a witch. When we turn 22 we have to merge."

"Merge? What do you mean by that?" I asked him confused.

"Merging is a powerful ritual performed as a practiced tradition by my Coven that determines who will be their next leader. I, being able to absorb other witch's magic, had the upper hand and my parents decided that just wasn't fair and kept having children until another set of twins were born. I couldn't just let that happen. So I killed them. But no my sister hid the twins with her magic." He explained as if it were completely normal to murder your family.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" I glared at him as he smiled, going through the book again.

"Don't act like your family isn't as dysfunctional. You guys stab each other with white oak stakes and put each other in boxes for decades. Centuries even. That's a little strange don't you think?"

"But no matter what we love each other! We would do anything for each other! Always and Forever." I yelled at him and the fire in the fireplace intensified.

"Really Nayeli? Look where you are right now! And think about who sent you here! Is that always and forever?" He yelled back.

"They did it because they had to! I was hurting people!"

"They don't give a damn about you!"

I jumped as the fire rose behind me. I realized it was my magic getting out of hand.

I huffed before walking away angrily.
