Chapter Twenty-One

"So," Kai began as he stood working on the damaged ascendant, "I can't send us back physically, but I can probably send a part of us back." He looked up at Elena.

She looked at him skeptically, "-Probably?"

I sat on the pool table with my arms crossed. I noticed Damon staring at me, "Take a picture, it'll last longer" I teased.

He gave a fake smile before dropping it, "I'm just making sure you don't do anything stupid."

"Will she be able to see us or not, Kai?" I heard Elena ask impatiently.

"I don't know, I've never done this before." He grinned like a little kid on Christmas day.

"So let's all just take a deep breath, right? Close our eyes.. and.. keschede sede ni canun keschede senu ni." He chanted quietly.

I began to feel a strong wind in the room as it blew my hair back.

It was hard to tell if we had even gone anywhere. All that happened was a quick light and a loss of balance.

"Rough landing." I mumbled before looking to my left and seeing Bonnie.

Jeremy ran over to her and began calling her name but she didn't even move in the slightest. Jeremy turned back to us, "She can't hear me."

Damon attempted to pick up a glass but his hand went right through it, "Can't touch anything either. Nice spell, Kai." He spoke sarcastically making me roll my eyes.

"Hey, Kai. Look what I found." I heard my own voice. I furrowed my eyebrows and walked over to Bonnie and realized she was playing the video I took the first day Kai and I arrived in Mystic Falls.

I bit my lip as I felt everyone's eyes on me. I never told them me and Kai had met before I found Damon and Bonnie.

"Stop that." Kai covered the lens with his hand.

"Come on, have some fun." I teased the boy in the video.

Kai moved his hand off the lens and gave me a look.

"Do you ever smile, Malachai?"

He flashed a fake smile as I laughed.

"Smile more! You almost look like a good person." I joked.

"You know you're lucky you have a pretty face." Kai mumbled ignoring the camera.

I heard myself gasp dramatically. "Did Kai Parker just call me pretty?"

"Don't get used to it." He looked away trying to hide his smile. "Now put the camera down."

There were a few rustled before the video was over.

Bonnie shook her head, "They knew each other." She whispered.

Damon grabbed my arm, snapping me out of my trance as he glared at me. "You lied to us."

"No need to get touchy, Salvatore." Kai joked but seeing the darkness behind his eyes, I could tell there was a warning behind it.

"You told us that you didnt know him. That you were alone for those 3 years."

I was ready to backfire but I looked over and realized Bonnie began to drink. My eyes slightly widened before I whispered, "No."

Damon looked over as well and his grip on my arm began to loosen up.

"What?" Elena and Jeremy asked at the same time.

"That bottle of bourbon is the oldest one in the house.." Damon trailed off as I watched Bonnie pour a glass.
