John's POV

"Thank you, mister." I called to the taxi driver as I pushed open my door. "You saved us."

The driver simply raised his hand in acknowledgment, allowing Kaylee to climb out the door and grab her suitcase before screeching off into the distance.

"Let's get you inside, shall we?" I smirked, grabbing Kaylee's hand off guard and pulling her towards me. "We can use this hotel until we can find our way back to my own."

Instead of answering me, she simply gave me a half-hearted smile before looking me in the eyes.

"Mmkay.." She murmured, furrowing her brow. "But, I- Oh, don't worry."

Worried, I was about to pester her before she cut me off and placed a finger on my lips, hushing me.

"Let's not cause any more trouble, shall we?" She grinned, raising an eyebrow. "I'm fine, just needed time to realise I was here."

I smiled back at her before squeezing her hand leading her into the hotel.

Finally, everything was fine.

I had booked a hotel room, completely within 6 minutes.

New record.

Dangling the keys in one hand and dragging Kaylee behind me with another, I felt light and happy.

Nothing could stop us now.

I observed the hotel doors, glancing at the numbers lined across the top before I found our own.

"428," Kaylee said and I turned my head and saw her dark blue eyes sparkled in a newfound happiness.

Was she feeling as light as me?

"A couple of my favourite numbers." She giggled, the sound making me swoon.

"I never knew that," I grinned back, fixing the keys in my hand before I pushed them into the key hole. "Lady's first."

Stepping back and gesturing Kaylee into the room, she seemed to float inside, her eyes scanning the new surroundings.

I followed behind closely, closing the door behind me and staring at the furniture and view as well.

It had gotten well dark since the airport situation and the large windows displayed the purple and blue sky very well.

"Woah.." I simply breathed, not being able to tear my eyes from the sky. "I've never been able to recognise this kind of beauty."

Soon, I focused back on the main attraction, but she'd already settled in.

Discarding her suitcase on the leather couch in the corner beside the window, Kaylee was now in the kitchen area, turning on the kettle.

"Tea? Or coffee?" She asked, giving me one of her innocent stares.

"I guess tea.." I replied, her blue eyes looking away from mine as she grabbed a teacup and bag.

Maybe this was the time to bring up the most bugging situation.

I hadn't thought about it very much in the past few circumstances, but now, I knew I couldn't leave it for much longer.

"Kaylee.." I started, walking to the countertop and scratching at the marble, watching her expression flicker at the sound of my tone. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Her body tensed up at the question, but she continued adding sugar to both of our cups.

"What do you mean?" She answered, and I knew she was playing dumb.
