George's POV
"Paul! Do you have my pillow again?"
John's voice woke me from my deep slumber, and I yawned.
Oh, not again.
Paul was always taking things and never returning them..
I'd gotten to bed earlier this night, so I felt quite awake.
Ringo's snores filled my ears and I cringed.
Really, Ringo?
Swinging my legs over the side of the bunk, I crept from the room and into the lit up kitchen.
Paul and John had stayed up late, but they must be heading to bed soon enough.
Grabbing a match and putting on the kettle, I turned and strolled over to the couch.
It was about time I wrote a letter to Pattie.
She'd been all I've thought about lately..
I turned from the sofa and over to the drawers by Paul and John's room, where we'd stuffed a bunch of notes, paper, un-important letters and pencils.
Grabbing a pencil and a small note book, I settled down by the couch and waited for the kettle to whistle as I thought about a clever note for Pattie.
"Nothing too stupid.." I muttered, opening the notebook. "Stupid will scare her.."
Turning the first page, I was quite surprised to see the note book was already being used; it was full of John's handwriting.
The loops of scrawled rhyming words and crossed out scribbles made me feel like an intruder.
I knew how touchy John felt about people invading his person property, but this was just a notebook full of John's song ideas.
What could I be invading?
I flipped to a random page in the middle of the notebook, expecting a clean, un-scribbled page, but sighed as I set my sights upon a full two pages taken up by John.
Just as I was about to turn the page, I realised it was a fully completed song.
'I think I'm gonna be sad
I think it's toda-ay, yeah!
The girl that's driving me mad
Is going awa-ay, yeah!
She's got a ticket to ride
She'd got a ticket to ri-i-ide
She's got a ticket to ride
But she don't care!
She said that living with me
Was bringing her do-own, yeah
She would never be free
When I was arou-ound'
The notebook was snatched from my fingers before I could read the next line, and I spun around.
Behind me was an angry John, his eyes narrowed and his hands clenching the book.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you that reading other people's things is rude, Harrison?" He muttered, glaring at me.
"I- Sorry, John-".
"How much did you read?"
John's words cut me off as I struggled to find my own.
The lyrics made me wonder, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"The- the 'she would never be free, when I was around' part," I stammered, my arms shaking. No one could ever predict John's actions when he was angry. "They're great lyrics, John."
He huffed in response, but didn't move.
Suddenly, my mind clicked into place.
'The girl that's driving me mad, is going away..' - Kaylee left.
'She's got a ticket to ride..' - Kaylee took a plane.
'She would never be free, when I was around..' - Now, what was going on there?
"John," I muttered, wondering why he still hadn't moved. "Was that song about Kaylee?"
It was as though they were the words John wanted to hear.
His eyes flickered towards mine, a tick sounding in my head.
"Ding, ding, ding, you win a million dollars!" John mocked, putting on a fake smile that scared me rather than amuse. "Of course it fucking is. I can't really deny that, now, can I?"
A tinge of guilt shot through me.
"But, what about the- the last verse I read," I questioned, pointing at the book. "It doesn't really make sense to me. You don't think she left because she couldn't stand you, you don't think?"
John shrugged his shoulder's as he turned his gaze to his feet.
"I'll never know, will I?" He simply stated before turning on his heels and stalking off to his and Paul's bedroom. "Night, George."
"Night, John." I replied, my head full of new questions and wonders.
Of course Kaylee wasn't sick of John, she must've been scared off by the publicity more than anything.
Shrugging off the subject, I thought back to my own woman.
My letter to Pattie was going to have to wait, now.
