John's POV

The studio ground was deserted on this Saturday afternoon, everyones scenes being wrapped up for the movie.

After I had escaped from under Paul's watchful eye, I knew I had to see Kaylee and sort everything out.

I hadn't been wandering the dirt patches lined with concrete for too long when I found her standing against a brick wall, a coca cola bottle held limply in her hands, gazing up at the sky.

"Is it true?"

I watched as she slowly turned to look at me, cautious as to who the voice belonged.

"What's true, John." She sighed, her gaze falling upon myself as she folded her arms.

"That you said 'no' to sex with George." I continued, the amusement leaving my voice. "Because you love.. Me?"

"Well, I wouldn't have done it because I was freaking joking, would I?"

Kaylee's blue eyes narrowed as she leant to one side.

"So.. You would've had sex with George if it wasn't for me?" I smirked, copying her posture.

She groaned and rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath as I laughed.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry.." I said, stopping and looking her dead in the eyes. "I just can't get over that you love me.."

"Oh, so now you believe me?" Kaylee shot, still not returned to her mellow self.

I hadn't even seen her be soft or causal around me, her snappy side was the only thing I was used to.

That needed to change.

"Well, George came up to me and told me the whole situation." I replied, genuinely sympathetic. "Not many girls would decline that offer."

A soft sound filled my ears and I looked up from the ground to find Kaylee giggling behind her hand, her long eyelashes rimmed her blue eyes, making them stand out.

"I never thought you were capable of giggling.." I laughed, giving her a wide smile. "What's so funny?"

"Oh.. Nothing.." She breathed out, her rapid laughs disappearing. "So why did you come all this way?"

That's when it hit me.

Did I really have the effort, the confidence, to ask out this beautiful girl?

Hadn't every other girl just thrown themselves at me so much a relationship just grew mutually?

The words didn't fit my image.

I felt her eyes scan over my hands which were fidgeting, pinching one another.

"I- I need to say something," I started, a strong breeze picking up. "And I've never really had the heart to ask a girl this, because I never needed to. But in your case, it seems like everything needs to be done manually."

Another soft giggle.

"So," I continued, my eyes focused on the wall behind her. "Will you be my girlfriend?"

Her reaction wasn't what I expected.

Instead of an excited scream and kisses, her eyes widened and she almost dropped her cola bottle.

"I can't do that!" She said, hesitating.

"W-what?" I stammered, my hands wrestling each other. "Why not?"

"I- I can't break Paul's heart.." Kaylee whispered furiously. "I really want to be with you John, but you don't understand. Paul means the world to me. He was there for me when you were going through your emotional deprivation and I just can't bear to see the hurt in his eyes any longer."

My comprehension was beyond her words, but I loved her too much to care about Paul's feelings.

"Please, Kaylee." I begged, her blue eyes locked onto mine. "You don't understand what I'm goin-"

"You don't understand what Paul's going through, either." Kaylee snapped back, although I could tell she didn't want to fight. "He told me he loved me, John."

At those words, my hands clenched into fists, but Kaylee noticed.

"Don't you dare lay a finger on him." She reacted, reaching a hand to touch mine.

An electric zap went through the tips of her fingers as she touched my skin and she pulled back.

"Please, leave Paul alone." She soothed, her eyes clouded.

"But I want to be with you.." I groaned, relaxing my hands. "You don't love him, you love me! What's got you so worried? Why can't we just be together in secret?"

Opening her mouth to argue back, Kaylee stopped and raised her eyebrows at me, in surprise rather than annoyance.

"That's actually a seriously good idea.." She gasped, her eyes shining.

"What?" I asked, confused as she bounced on her tip-toes.

"Dating in secret!"
