Kaylee's POV

"Whose a good 'lil boy, huh?" I sang, twirling a tiny piece of Jasper's hair around my little finger.

He giggled calmly and closed his eyes, waiting for me to repeat my sentence.

Instead, I picked up his chubby fists and raised them in the air, helping him to stand up on my knees.

His blue eyes opened in wonderment and he shook, his legs unstable.

"You want to go to the park?" I asked, watching his eyes stare at me, clueless as to what I was saying. "We can plaaay!"

Being the teenager I was, I wasn't sure what to actually do with a baby who hadn't developed their kneecaps properly, so my idea of 'plaaay' was showing Jasper the pretty scenery.

"Where are you going to play?" John's voice asked from in the living room.

I glanced over my shoulder, grabbed Jasper and carried him out of the bedroom to where his dad was, reading a newspaper.

John hadn't been very interactive with Jasper, but I guess it was just who he was. His father wasn't a major factor in his life, as he was taken from his parents at a young age, and I knew his Aunt Mimi was a very limited affectionate lady.

"We're going to the park!" I announced, smiling at Jasper who was amused with my tone of voice. "Do you want to come?"

John looked up from the newspaper and raised his eyebrows.

"Where?"

I shrugged and walked closer towards him before plopping Jasper onto his knee. He folded the newspaper and grabbed Jasper before he could fall.

"I don't know," I answered, watching John lift Jasper up onto his chubby feet like I'd done before, and help him bounce. "We could go for a walk and find one?"

"Oh, and encourage the rumour of you being my wife?" John remarked, but bit his lip guiltily when he realised what he'd said. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way.."

I looked away from John and down to Jasper who was oblivious to what was going on around him. If only he knew what problems he had already.

He was gazing up at John in awe, his little lips parted as though he was witnessing the rising of Jesus Christ.

It always made me laugh when he did this; he was already a Beatlemaniac.

John looked down at him when he noticed me staring and laughed before bowing his head down close to him.

"How about we go outside?" I heard him whisper, and I wondered who he was speaking to before he continued. "Daddy's got a few things we could do together.."

Puzzled, I watched as John lifted Jasper off his lap, stood up, and was about to walk off when he stopped, looking around as though he'd lost something.

"Have you seen my.." He muttered, but then raised his eyes to mine. "Oh. Don't worry."

Confused, I tilted my head. This man was seriously crazy.

"What's wrong?" I asked, but he simply shrugged, smiled cheerfully, kissed the tip of my nose apologetically, then hurried out the back door with Jasper's head poking over his shoulder.

Mine and John's bedroom was a mess.

With the cot in the corner, all blue and fluffy, notebooks and paper with John's amusing cartoons and song lyrics everywhere, there was really no room for anything.
