The sunlight was bright as I walked down the street. I had luckily already checked into a hotel and was out exploring the city. So far, I was loving San Francisco. It was was beautiful and everything I had expected but there was something missing. Someone to be specific. My mind didn't want to reveal who it was which made it more frustrating. I push the negative thoughts back as I walked up to a small dance shop. The small bell on the door rang as I pushed the door open. A girl with a bright smile greeted me before returning her attention back to a box resting on her desk. I walk around the shop several times eyeing each piece of clothing and every pair of shoes.
My mind shifts back to when I was a little girl. My mother used to take me to the small dance shop downtown back in Texas. She would never really buy me anything because my dance academy would provide everything for me but she loved seeing the excitement in my face every time I would see the new products.
"Looking for anything in particular?" The girl walks up next to me.
"Honestly, I have no idea. My husbands... friend's mother," I correct myself quickly, "had bought all my stuff but there was this... thing and I don't know if I still have those things. I need my clothing for Monday."
"Well, why don't you call and ask her?" She points at the phone back at the desk.
"Oh, no. I couldn't." I quickly shake my head.
"Whatever happened between you and that boy doesn't matter. If you and his mother get along, you should still talk to her. Don't let this friend bring you down."
I eye the phone one more time and take a deep breath. I hold the phone to my ear and listen to the annoying beep before I start punching numbers in. I had memorized Maura's number since she called everyday to talk about the wedding.
"Hello?" A soft warming voice picked up.
"Maura, it's Beckie."
"Rebecca!" She practically yells my name in excitement. "How are you?"
"I'm...good." Had Niall or his father not told her anything or were they not back yet?
"That's great! How's Niall?" So no, they aren't back yet.
"He's uh, fine." I lie. I look over at the girl who is standing straight in front of me. Her eyes are full of curiosity and excitement. This one clearly likes gossip.
"That's great! Are you guys in San Francisco yet?" I hear other voices through the line.
"Uh yeah, we just got here." I bite my bottom lip before continuing. "I was calling to ask if I could have the address to the apartment."
"Doesn't Niall have it?"
"No, he lost it." I fake a small laugh.
"Oh, that boy!" I can picture her shaking her head at the other end.
She gives me the address and I write it down on a piece of paper. When I'm done, I shove it into one of my pockets
"Just tell them your's or Niall's name and they will give you the key to the apartment. Also, all your stuff for dance is there too."
"Thank you so much Maura."
"No problem Rebecca. I can't wait to go down there and visit."
"Me either." I gulp and we say our goodbyes. I let out a heavy sigh after I hang up the phone. I pull the address back out of my pocket and ask the girl if she knows where the place is located.
"Holy crap, you're going to live there?" She hands me back the small piece of paper. I shove it back into my pockets and shrug my shoulders. "These are some or probably best apartments in San Francisco."
