As I walked down the hall to first period, I felt all eyes on me. I didn't know why and I honestly didn't care.
I walked into class and Zayn can you was sitting in his seat. He turned to face me and quickly got up.
"Hey, how are you?"
"I'm holding on." I smile.
He hugs me and I hear footsteps approaching.
"Good morning Beckie." he nods at me.
"Mr. Malik, I have some things in the copy room. Could you please pick them up?"
Zayn nods and heads towards the door. It is still 20 minutes before class so I take my seat.
"So are you ready for tonight?"
Wait what? I turn to face the calendar and it's already Friday. I had forgotten about the book signing.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I heard what happened. I'm so sorry for your loss. I totally understand if you don't want to go." he's walking over to me.
"No it's fine. I need to get my mind off things anyways. I think it will be good if I go out."
"May I?" he stretches his arms out and I nod. He pulls me in and hugs me tightly. His warmth is the most comforting thing on earth.
"Thank you. And I'll see you tonight then at Ottendorfer Library at six." he pulls away and smiles.
I nod my head and take my seat. Zayn walks in through the door an hands the teacher a pile of papers. I open "The Scarlett Letter" and begin to read.
"Good morning class. It's finally Friday which means you have made it through the first week as a senior!" he says.
The whole class begins to laugh and some even cheer along with him.
"For the last assignment of the week, I want you to write your guilty pleasure. It will stay in your notebook as always and I will not read them."
He takes his seat and I begin writing. My biggest guilty pleasure is that I have a journal full of songs I've written. Nobody knows about them and I'm not ready to share them with anyone just yet.
As soon as write the last word of my two-paged essay, we still have twenty minutes left of class. I look up at Mr. Rodriguez and mouth "I'm finished"
"If you are done before class is over, start working on Monday's assignment which is about your dream partner. How do you picture them and what's the reason why you want them."
I nod at him and look at my paper.
"My dream partner would be someone like Edward Rochester from Charlotte Brontë's 'Jane Eyre'. Despite that he was cold and distant, he fell for a girl that was basically nothing. Even after they not being able to marry, he still loves her. He suggest that they move to France together despite that he is already married. Sadly, Jane leaves. He is left with his wife who is now mad. A couple of years later, she burns the house down and commits suicide. He tries to save her but losses his hand and becomes nearly blind. When he hears that Jane is back in town, he is scared about what she will think of his appearance. Luckily, Jane doesn't seem to care and marries him. They soon have their first child and he recovers sight. He never gave up on her and that's what I want. I want someone to wait for me even if it's forever."
The bell rings and I move quickly to the back of the room and put my notebook away. I rush to the locker room and begin to change for dance. I'm not too happy that I will only have dance on Friday's but this is the only school with a dance program.
