The sound of the doorbell drew me to the mirror. I fixed my hair and whatnot and headed downstairs. Niall was standing by the door with his hands in his pocket. His hair was down which made him look a lot younger. His moon-shaped eyes feel as if you are in an ocean. You could drown any moment in them. He is staring at the pattern on the ceiling as I come down the stairs.

"Hey."

"Hey." He smiles.

I look over to Diana who is standing in the kitchen staring at us. I point my finger at Niall to give me a minute and head towards her.

"He's going to take me somewhere so..."

"It's okay Beckie. He already explained everything to me. You were right." She sighs.

"I'm so sorry. I'm not going to go out with him. I just want to stay friends." I look over at him.

Diana nods and I pull her into a hug. We say our goodbyes before she disappears upstairs.

"Ready?" Niall smiles.

"Ready." I repeat

He drives for about an hour until he finally makes a right turn. It's already dark and it's hard to know where we are going. I know we are outside of New York now and my stomach begins to twist. Where is he taking me?

"Where are we going?" I finally ask.

"You'll see." I can bearly see his smile.

He makes a left turn onto a dirt road. My heart begins to race and my stomach becomes more twisted. I begin to feel sick.

"Here we are." He turns the engine off.

We get out of the car and I glance around to my surroundings. We are in the middle of a field with what seem to be some sort of flowers and grass.

Niall takes my hand in his and leads me over a small hill. My legs become weak as I take my new view in. There are thousands of lights shining in the distance. I look down at the floor ahead of me and notice water. It stretches far as if it were an ocean. The city lights reflect off of it beautifully.

I turn to look at Niall and his eyes are almost sparkling at the view. His lips are slightly parted and they turn into a smile as he catches me staring at him.

"It's beautiful."

"That's why I brought you here. It's the second most beautiful thing I have ever seen." he says quietly. His eyes are still focused on the lights.

"What's the first?" I ask also looking at the lights.

"You." he nearly whispers.

I bite my bottom lip as I feel his eyes on me. I don't have the strength to look at him. One look and it will all go down. The wall I have been building for over a month will collapse.

"Look." He points at the sky.

I look up and the sky comes to life with different colors. They are coming from different directions. I look down and see the fireworks reflect off of the water just like the city lights.

"This is so amazing." I sit in the grass.

Niall joins me a few seconds later. We stare at the sky as the fireworks slowly begin to end.

"Beckie?" Niall asks.

"Yeah?"

"Did you ever love me?"

I sit in silence for a couple of seconds. I don't know. I used to think I did. I even told Zayn I loved him. But did I? I had only known him for about a week and basically went out two days. That's not enough time to love someone. Especially after the way he treated me.
