Just Another Day

Chapter 24

Mitch's POV

Tears. The recording ended in tears.

I can't upload this, I said to myself, they will think I'm weak.

I flop down onto the bed. Duke hops up onto the bed and lays down beside me.

"I need to buy tickets to go to Arizona." I said to myself. "I need my Lilac, she needs me. I will surprise her. Jerome can come too."

I'm now up off the bed, pacing around and around.

"What about Arizona?" Jerome says, opening the door.

"We need to get tickets for the next flight to Arizona." I said eagerly.

Jerome shook his head, "No, the girls need to be left alone."

I sighed and walked out of my room. I started down the stairs when I found Jason at the bottom.

"What's wrong?" I asked him. His head was in his hands.

"I'm going to be alone forever." He mumbled through tears.

Adam came rushing out of his room, Alesa right behind him.

"I got it from here." Adam said putting his hand on my shoulder.

I walked into the kitchen. I needed food. I needed lunch. I made myself a peanut butter and sugar sandwich and poured a glass of milk. I ran upstairs into my room and to my computer desk. I wanted to see if Lilac was at the house, so I went on Skype and called her. She didn't answer, she must still be at the hospital. I grabbed my phone. I sent her a text that said " Miss you. Please come home soon." with a picture of me and Duke attached. She replied almost immediately. She replied with " I wish I could. I want to. Just a few more days my love." with a picture of her giving a weak smile attached. We texted until she had to help take care of Jenny's mom.

"Uhhhhhhggggg." I groaned.

I stood up and stretched, then sat back down. I recorded a hunger games by myself. I needed something to upload. After I recorded the hunger games I recorded some dinosaurs and the walls. I recorded for the rest of the evening until Lilac called through Skype.

"Hey." I said, answering the Skype call.

"Hey. What did you need?" She asked.

"Just wanted to make sure you were doing ok." I shrugged.

"There's more to it. I see it in your eyes." She said putting on a serious face. I hated her serious face.

"It's nothing, I just miss you a bunch."

"Mmmmmhmmm." She rolled her eyes. "Sure babe."

"When are you coming home?" I whined.

"Friday, maybe Saturday. Friday is supposed to be mom's last day." She said. Her eyes starting to tear up.

"Don't cry. You'll make me cry."

"I'll try not to." She said half laughing half crying.

We talked for hours.

"I have to go." She yawned.

"Nooo." I whined.

"Yes." She replied, mocking me.

"Night Mitch." She blew a kiss.

"Night Lilac." I caught her kiss and blew one back. She hung up.

I pulled off my shirt and crawled into bed. Duke jumped up beside me. Filling Lilac's place once again. His cold, wet nose touched mine. I rubbed his head and closed my eyes. Duke whimpered.

"Night Duke." I said, dozing off to sleep.
