Just Another Day

Chapter 3

Jerome's POV

I wake up to Jenny breathing hard.

"Jenny, are you okay?" I ask.

"My. Water. It just. Just. Broke," she says.

"Are you serious? You still have 3 weeks! Are you having bad contractions?" I say.

"B-b-bad contractions, yes. Jerome, this is real. W-we need a hospital. Get the others. Let's go," she says.

"Okay, you stay here, I'll get the others."

I run out of the room and start screaming down the hall.

"This is not a drill! Everyone up! I don't care if you haven't showered, we need to get going. NOW!" I yell.

"What the heck is going on?!" Lilac says, coming out of her room.

"Jenny's in labor. Come on," I say.

Lilac and I sprint into my room and help Jenny into my car. Everyone else out and goes with us.

"Jenny, how are you doing?" Lilac asks.

"I'm in labor, how do you think I'm doing?" Jenny says.

"We're here," I say and we get Jenny in a wheelchair and get her a room.

"Jenny?" I ask when we're in her room.

"What?" she says.

"Now, Jenny, on this next contraction we're gonna push, okay?" the nurse says.

"Okay. I'm just glad I'm getting this thing out. I've been in labor for how long?" Jenny says.

"3 hours," the nurse says. "Alright, are you ready?"

"Yes. Jerome, Lilac, hold my hands please!" Jenny says.

"On three, okay? One. Two. THREE," the nurse says and Jenny grips my hand hard.

She grunts and grunts. I soon see the head of the baby. I look up and see Jason and Adam with shocked, wide eyes. Soon enough the baby us out.

"It's a healthy little girl," the nurse says. "Would the father like to cut the umbilical cord?"

"Sure," I say. I cut the baby's umbilical cord."Jenny, you're a mom now." I say. The nurse hands her the baby.

"Do you have a name?" she asks.

"Yeah. Lily Sadie Aceti," Jenny says.

"Now keep Lily on your skin. That way she'll be warm," the nurse says.

"Okay, thanks," Jenny says and does what she said. The nurse leaves.

"Wow, Jenny. You're tough! To have Lily come out of-of-of.." Jason says.

"Good job, Jenny. You did great," Lilac says.

"That was amazing, Jenny. Fantastic," I say.

"Good job! You went all the way!" Adam says.

"What else would I do, Adam?" Jenny says. "Push her out half way and then suck her back in and repeat it over and over?"

"No," Adam says.

"Well, thanks everyone. I'm so tired though," she says.

"We'll let you get some rest," I say and everyone else leaves. Jenny gives me Lily and she falls asleep.

---time skip to next day---

We go to the hospital and visit Jenny. The nurses say she's been sleeping all day and night.

"What? Is she that tired or something?" I ask.

"No. She's in a coma," the nurses tell us.

"What? How long will she be in her coma?" I ask.

"It can last anytime from 6 hours or even years," the nurses tell us.

"Years?!" Lilac says. She turns around to Mitch and starts crying on his chest. I feel a few tears drip down my own face.

Years?! Jenny's in a coma? What? Why did this happen? How did this happen?
