Just Another Day

Chapter 23

Jerome's POV

I Skype call Jenny late the night after she left.

She picks up. Tears are all over her beautiful, beautiful face.

"Oh, pumpkin, are you okay? What's wrong?" when I ask that second question I realize myself that I'm crying.

"Jerome, please don't cry. Just...please...don't..."

"Everything okay? How's Mom? Lily?" I asked.

"I'm fine, Mom is fine, Lily is fine. We're all okay. I just...I miss you. I need you and I...it's coming too close, Jerome," she says. She starts to curls up in a ball on the chair I see her on and she sobs loudly. Lilac comes over.

"Shut up! Quit crying!" Lilac says as she gently smacks Jenny's back.

"I'm sorry," she says. She's hyperventilating, now.

"Jenny! Jenny! Pull it together! Calm down! Lilac, help her!" I scream into my mic.

Lilac starts getting control of Jenny. She's still a bit off.

"Now, Jenny, what's too close?" I ask.

"Mom's.....death..." she says through heavy breathes. Her brilliant blue eyes are wide and scared. They reveal her fear. Her deep fear.

"Jenny, calm down! You need control right now," I say.

"Okay," she says.

"Are you okay to carry on the talk or do we have to hang up, so you can get control?"

"No, please don't hang up," she says. She starts freaking out, totally.

This happens to her very occasionally. Only when she is totally freaked out and scared. She gets off edge and uneasy. She loses her control when this happens. This is the third time this has happened to her and I've had to deal with it; now, when her grandma who she was very close with died, and when she just plainly lost control of her body and her actions.

"Jenny! Calm down! I don't wanna hang up! But if it's to calm you down..."

"Jenny, just hang up!" Lilac says from across their room.

Jenny screams and hangs up.

"What the hell just happened?" I ask myself.

"I have no idea, Biggums," Mitch says, popping his head in my door.

"What's up?" I ask.

"What was up with Jenny?" he asks.

"Hyperventilating. She lost control. She said that her mom is getting closer to her death," I say. Hot tears drip down my face like lava streams down a volcano side.

"Jerome, she'll be okay. Did you hear how Lily was?" he asked.

"Yeah, she's fine. I'm really worried about Jenny, though," I say.

"I'm worried about Lilac. Did you hear that her mom, her actual mom, showed up at the hospital to talk to Lilac?"

"What an idiot!"

"I know. Biggums, get Betty ready!" he said.

"Alright," I say.

We get on the nexus and play some Hunger Games.
