Faded Away

There was once a girl named Y/N Y/L/N. She was known for her smile.

An array of thirty two white pearls that shone even in the worst of times.

Nobody ever knew the mystery behind her euphoria; the state of extreme exhilaration and contentment.

She always kept it a secret, veiling it from all the world's evils.

It was none other than her best friend, her one true love; Shawn Mendes.

They shared their most profound feelings and their most ardent desires, never kept anything from the other and never broke a single promise.

They seemed absolutely inseparable but little did everyone know that there was a greater force that could break the two and that could drive Shawn against her. 

That force was personified as a girl. 

Soon the smile tarnished to just a slight curvature of the mouth and that too faded away.

The smile that once existed camouflaged the most agonizing pain; the pain of being terminally ill.

Her beautiful, mesmerizing and contagious smile was replaced by an unceasing trail of slow, desolate tears streaming down her eyes; the eyes that once beamed with joy.

"I'm sorry" He said holding her hand for what was the last time. She was unresponsive, not knowing whether or not to forgive him.

Her heart said yes, her head said no. 

She wanted to cause him pain just the way he did to her. 

So she gathered every little bit of energy in her and whispered, "No."

That brought a sense of relief over her. And with that returned her usual smile.

It was as lively as ever, laughing in the face of her illness. 

And so her ailment decided to take the game up a notch. It took her to another world. A world where she wouldn't be able to smile anymore.

Her smile faded away before she completely faded away, not leaving even the last remnants for Shawn to savour.
