i was looking through this old drawer of mine and somewhere among all the documents, photographs and  papers i found your picture in an old envelope. it's been such a long time but just by looking at your tongue sticking out and you showing that fierce sign bought back so many memories. 

i admit that we are not together like all the other couples -you watch walking down the street, holding hands- and it is assumed that we are not in love. 

if ever we meet on the street, do stop and shake hands with me and do tell me  how things are going.  if you see me from a distance, do pass a smile but that smile should not carry any confessions about our love. 

but, i would not want our eyes to meet the way they used to because i cannot trust my stupid heart. 

do you remember that rose i gave you ? yes, the one you kept inside your dairy. i would want you to turn that into dust and let it merge into the air so maybe one day when the wind is playing with my hair i know that it is you. 

i admit that we are not lovers but if the golden rays of the sun fall straight on your face and wake you up, i would like you to think it is me. even when i wouldn't say anything to you for days and months and years altogether, i would still like you to listen to me. 

i sound like a complete idiot saying all of these things but you are not here to tell me that. today, you have a family. you are someone's wife and someone's mother.

but to me, you still are that silly little girl who would stumble upon absolutely nothing on a flat road and then sit there laughing hysterically. 

this is not our time but someday, perhaps in another lifetime, we'll say hello over tea. until then i can only say that we are not lovers but it's not acceptable for people to assume that i don't love you and you don't love me because i know you do.
