There's bound to be something interesting on that torn page - otherwise, why would it have been torn away? You're willing to bet that the page was torn off by the people who kidnapped Mei Mei. If you're very, very lucky, they didn't take it with them.

Do a special Luck test with no bonus whatsoever: roll one dice or get a random number from a 1-6 draw.

1 to 3: luck isn't with you today. The people who took Mei Mei took the torn page with them.
If you wish to interrogate your host again, and if you deciphered the text in the dragon's cave, go to Chapter Twenty-Nine. If you did not decipher it, or did not find it, go to Chapter Thirty-One.Otherwise, it's time to leave. If you went through the window without falling, go to Chapter Nineteen. If you fell through the window or brought the door down, go to Chapter Twenty.

4 to 6: you just -know- the page is here in the boutique. All you have to do is search for it! Do an Intelligence test, rolling one dice or get a random number from a 1 to 6 draw, for a result of 2 or more.

If you fail, you turn the boutique upside-down in your search but come up with nothing. After an hour or so, you give up. If you managed to heal the person you found and wish to interrogate him again, go to Chapter Twenty-Nine. Otherwise, it's time to leave. If you went through the window without falling, go to Chapter Nineteen. If you fell through the window or brought the door down, go to Chapter Twenty.

If you manage, your search is fruitful. Hidden beneath a fallen stack of parchment and bolts of silk, a tiny, wadded-up ball of paper peeks out at you. You grab it and uncrumple it. Go to Appendix 10.
