You go through the door across from the entrance to the five-sided riddle room and find yourself in a large hallway. You follow it carefully, until it veers sharply to the left. At the end of it, you can see a set of grand double doors, guarded by two massive spirits.
If you are not wearing armor from the armory, go to the Combat paragraph.
If you are wearing armour from the armory, you can choose to fight (go to Combat paragraph) or to backtrack quickly (go to Backtrack paragraph).
Combat
GUARD 1 (spirit)
Life points: 5
Weapon: halberd - long weapon.
Dice rolls: throw two dice - get a random number from a 1-12 draw.
1 to 4 : you fail your attack and the man strikes back. Lose 1 life point.
5 to 7 : the man blocks your attack.
8 to 12 : your attack carries. The man loses 1 life point.
Repeat until one of you is dead.
If you survive this fight, go on to the second guard.
If you did not, go to the very last part.
GUARD 2 (spirit)
Life points: 5
Weapon: unarmed.
Dice rolls: throw two dice - get a random number from a 1-12 draw.
1 to 4 : you fail your attack and the man strikes back. Lose 1 life point.
5 to 7 : the man blocks your attack.
8 to 12 : your attack carries. The man loses 1 life point.
Repeat until one of you is dead.
If you survive this fight, move on to the next paragraph.
If you did not, go to the very last part.
You stand before the double-doors, chest heaving as you catch your breath.
To go inside, go to Chapter Forty-Eight.
To turn around, go back to the Riddle Room and figure out the riddle, go to Chapter Forty-One.
To turn around and go take the left fork in the corridor after the guards' room, go to Chapter Forty-Two.
Backtrack
You take advantage, quickly, of the fact that the guards don't seem to have noticed you stole this armor, and you turn around and smoothly make your way back from where you came.
To go back to the Riddle Room and figure out the riddle, go to Chapter Forty-One.
To go take the left fork in the corridor after the guards' room, go to Chapter Forty-Two.
