You're trapped, weaponless, and for a crime you did not commit. But you can't afford to stay here! Mei Mei needs your help, and if the dragon never wakes the rains will never come again to Sichuan. Even if another dragon comes to replace the Sichuan dragon, it would be months, years - there's no way your village, or even your province, would survive a broken pearl. You have to get out of here.
Your cell contains a small wood-and-cloth cot, a metal bucket for your needs, and a blanket. There is a pail with water in a corner. The cell's door is made of metal bars too tightly spaced for you to squeeze in between, and the cell's window has two bars in it - but they are loose in their sockets and the window is big enough that you could squeeze through.
To use the blanket, the water, and a broken piece of the cot to try and pry the bars out of the window, go to Chapter Thirty-Six.
To pretend to be ill and call the guard over, go to Chapter Thirty-Seven.To create a massive ruckus and force the guard into your cell, go to Chapter Thirty-Eight.
