"It's a boy." said Mary and handed me the baby. "He's beautiful." I replied but tears ran down my cheeks. "The Turks will take him when he's old enough." she said. "I have to find a place where he is safe." I replied and she nodded.

Adam's POV
April 10th 1462: Transylvania
"Adam." said Dumitru. I went up to him and found my husband on the ground. He was bleeding heavily and had not many minutes to live. I put his head in my lap and stroked his hair. "Take care of him." replied Thomas weakly. "I promise." I said. "I love you." he replied before he took his last breath. "Love you too." I said and tears ran down my cheeks.
I woke up and I was breathing heavily. Same nightmare again. I took on me a shirt and went downstaris.
It was quiet throughout the castle and the moon cast dark shadows on the walls. Along the corridor ran a cat after a mouse that ran into a hole.
"Adam." said a girl. "I breathe in the cool spring air." I lied. "Is it the nightmare again?" asked Mary worried. "Yes." I said with a sigh.
"Thomas was a wonderful man and he loved you so much." replied Mary. "I know." I said and smiled a bit.
"Come to the kitchen and drink some water." she suggested. "Thank you." I said. "That's what best friends are for." replied Mary and I laughed softly.
I followed her to the kitchen and she made up a warm fire. She put a cup of water on the table and I drank a bit.
The light from the fire lit up her tired face. She had dark circles under her green eyes and her hair was in a messy bun. She cared about others that she forgot to sleep.

"Go and get some rest, you deserve it." said Vlad. "Thank you, my prince." replied Mary and walked out. Father sat next to me and looked at me with his stormy blue eyes.

"I am afraid father." I said and massaged my bump. "I don't let anybody hurt him." replied Vlad. "The Turks is looking for new soldiers." I said. "They ended that years ago." he replied calmly. I nodded and he patted my hand.
"People have begun to notice." I said low. "I have three days on me to resist blood before I become human again." replied Vlad.
"You killed thousand men and protected your people." I said. "I will do everything I can to keep my family safe." replied father. "I love you father." I said and hugged him. "Love you too my son." replied Vlad fatherly.
This was the first chapter of my new book. I love the reletionship between Adam's friend and father.
