If This Was A Movie

It took me awhile to explain everything to Chris. When I say everything, I mean everything. He didn't believe me at first until I showed him what I was capable of, so that lead me to patting him on the back affectionately as he tried to sort reality from fantasy.

"So there's five of you?" He asked me, I nodded. He held the icepack to his brusie on his forehead that was thanks to Chase.

"If it makes you feel any better, I just found out about it."

"Chase is your protector?" He asked, trying to fit the puzzle pieces together. "I can be your protector." He said this, more softly.

I smiled warmly at him. He was taking this suprisingly well. "What do the Lawless want from you?"

"Chase never really told me. It's something about stealing our power so that they can live."

"I won't ever let them hurt you."

"I know you won't." I held out my hand for him to take and led him through the kitchen which we had thoroughly cleaned before my parents saw it, pushed open the glass sliding door that went into the backyard. "I want to show you something." I told Chris, dragging him along with me as we stepped into the dew coated grass.

He held me as I limped across the backyard my ankle still throbbing. "If your about to tell me something else about the fantasy world, I think I've had enough for one night."

I laughed. "Nope, this is different."

We paused in the middle of my backyard next to a tall willow tree with the old tree house perched on it that I used to play on with Layla when we were kids. I took Chris's hands in mine, and took a deep shaky breath. "Are you afraid?" I asked him.

He smiled, his cute dimples glowing in the moonlight that cascaded through the tree branches. "I could never be afraid of someone as beautiful as you."

I blushed, biting my lip to hold in my smile. I squeezed his hands tightly. "Close your eyes." I told him, preceding to close mine as well. I focused on the dew that coated the leaves on the tree branches that swayed in the wind above us, and the droplets that were sprinkled along the lawn. "On the count of three, open your eyes."

"What are you-" I cut him off.

"One." I said, and he squeezed my hand tightly.

"Should I be nervous?" He asked. I giggled.

"Two."

"What happens on three?"

"Let's find out. Three."

When we opened our eyes the water droplets had lifted off the ground surronding us and frozen in place like time itself had stopped. It was like a sea of crystals surronded us. Chris beamed laughing, not letting go of my hands as he admired my abilities. "This is amazing." He whispered. "Your amazing." He said, pulling me against him and breaking the connection so that all the water droplets fell back onto the ground in their rightful position.

Chris wrapped his arms around my waist and I nestled my head against his chest, lifting onto my tip toes and pecking him lightly on the lips. "My hero." I swooned.

He smirked. "My Enchantress." He said, returning the kiss and pulling me tighter against him.

We were young and stupid, thinking that this moment would last us forever. We were so wrong.

Chase POV

I hated him.

I yelled in fury, kicking in my car door so that it dented and then smashing the rear view mirrors. If she watned to mess around with some guy, so be it. She didn't need me, and I didn't need her. All this Protector thing was bullshit anyways, all I had done was get her more attention from the Lawless. Chris could protect her and when the time came, I wouldn't even care anymore. She made the decision to get me out of her life, and I wasn't going to argue with that. But did it have to be with him?
