Unkown POV
I watched from behind the bushes, my blood curdling at the sweet smell radiating off her soft skin. Her blonde hair blew in the breeze and it took everything I had to not attack her now. I scowled at the presence of her protector who was carefully blocking her from me. I crouched underneath branches my fur coat getting littered with leaves. I would need to make a move soon, but now that she had found her protector it would be harder. I shifted into my human form and pulled my green hoodie over my face as I quickly ran across the school yard. I smiled to myself when I noticed the banner on the school entrance sign; Spring Fling Buy Tickets Now! I grinned, baring my canine teeth in the back of my mouth. I sniffed the air one last time and ran back inside the school, the Spring Fling, then I would make my move.
Valerie POV
"Were-wolves?" I stuttered, laughing nervously.
"This is why I need to protect you." Chase said, caressing my cheek with the back of his hand.
"You cheated on me." I gritted between my teeth as I pushed his hand off of me. "Now you'll do anything for me?" I laughed to particularly no one. The hairs raised on the back of my neck from the cool rush of wind.
"Valerie-I made a mistake."
"Thanks Captain Obvious." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.
Chase gripped my shoulders tightly and shook me. "I suggest you listen to me or your going to become someone's dinner like-" He cut himself off, biting his lip.
"Like what?" I asked.
Chase turned around and ran a hand through his hair. "Is this about the note?" I asked.
I pushed Chase to turn him back around towards me. "Who's dinner?"
"They already have one of you. They're going to find you soon, and for all I know you could already be next."
"I didn't ask for this, why can't they leave me alone?" I said, shaking my head.
"Valerie, they destroyed her family, they won't rest until all of you are dead."
"What did you just say?" I asked my heart rate skyrocheting.
"Shit." Chase muttered.
"If they destroyed my family, then who are those people living in my house!" I shouted but Chase clamped his hand over my mouth. "Chase- answer me!" I yelled.
He looked around the empty field pulling his leather jacket closer to him. "We have to go." He suddenly said, grabbing my wrist tightly.
"Chase, stop it! Tell me!" I begged as he dragged me across the field.
I squeezed my fist tightly together wanting him to just let go and stop dragging me places, to leave me alone and to answer my questions. I could feel something within me that glowed, and wanted so badly to come out. I could feel it pushing through my hands and waiting for me to release it. All the sudden Chase's grip on me disappeared and he was flown backwards into the dirt. He head bounced on the ground and the dust on the baseball field sprinkled over his clothes.
"Did you do that?" He asked astonished, coughing from the dust. "You're not supposed to be able to do that yet..." He muttered to himself as he picked himself off the ground.
I stared at my hands. Was that..me? No. This wasn't happening. I looked down at the mark on my leg and rubbed it gently. It stung and caused me to take a few steps back. It was like molten lava from spewing from it but was contained within that small patch of skin. I took a deep breath. "Valerie-" Chase stood up holding out his hands preparing for me to strike him again. He circled around me making my mind began to whirl and my headache come back. I felt sick.
