Shake It Out

It was lunchtime. I was walking down the hall with Katy. Greg and Nate trailed behind us, messing around and punching eachother playfully when Quinn ran up to me. "Can I talk to you?" She whispered, grabbing my hand and narrowing her eyes at Katy who waved politely at her.

"Um..." I looked back at Nate who nodded his head. "sure." I clicked my tounge to the roof of my mouth. 

"Perfect." Quinn smiled, her cheerleading costume for the pep rally today bounced up and down as she walked me over to the water fountain where flyers for the Spring Fling were littered around. Greg eyed Quinn cautiously and stayed behind as Katy and Nate continued off to the cafeteria. "So what's with the new crew?" Quinn whispered, watching Greg out of the corner of her eye.

"They're just in town for the weekend so my parents are letting them stay with us."

"You're parents?" Quinn laughed. "Oh please, they never let us even have sleepovers. I doubt they'd let three strangers stay in your house."

"There not strangers!" I interuppted her.

"I'm not mad at you." Quinn said slowly, twirling a piece of blonde hair with her finger. "It's just I thought that you, me, and Eric were kinda gonna always be together. You know," She sighed. "the three amigos, like we promised."

"Quinn," I smiled at her and pulled her into a tight hug. I pulled apart just enough so that I could look her in the eye. "your always going to be my best friend." I assured her.

"Does that mean your coming to the pep rally today?" She asked hopefully.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world!"

"Good!" She clapped her hands together very cheerleader type. "I just think you should talk to Eric about it, he's kind of taking it hard."

"Why?" I scrunched my eyebrows. I could see Greg in my perepherial vision tapping his wrist impatiently. Nate had given us a buddy system and so Greg and I had been paired togehter. 

Quinn's bit her lip but immediately broke into a smile because she could never keep a secret from me for long. "Val, he's had a major crush on you since the first grade. Everybody knows it." She said, but this was all news to me.

"Why didn't he ever say anything?" I asked her. Quinn shrugged. 

"Just...talk to him. He thinks your kind of a hoe lately." My mouth gaped open. "Who can blame him? First Chase, then Chris, and now mysterious hot guy who is creepily watching us!" Quinn laughed."Can I have his number by the way?" She added.

Typical Quinn, I laughed. Greg coughed loudly from behind me. "I got to go." I sighed. Quinn nodded and blew me an air kiss.

"I'll see you at the assembly!' She said before skipping off down the hall.

"Who's Miss Perky Pants?" Greg asked as we followed behind Nate and Katy to the cafeteria. 

"Shut up, I love that girl." I informed him.

"I think its time to take a ride on the Quinn mobile." Greg winked at me, looking back to see Quinn's skirt flapping as she jogged down the hall. 

"You're such a pig!' I slapped him in the arm. Greg chuckled, then grabbed my arm yanking me back. 

"What-" I asked him then he pointed ahead of me. 

Chase and Chris were blocking the middle of the hallway. Katy and Nate who were a good ten feet ahead of us, seemed to be arguing with them. Nate pushed Katy behind him.. "We have to help them." I muttered, running to catch up with them. "What's going on?' I asked, looking between Chase, Chris, Nate, and Katy. My heart fluttered when I saw Chris, but he avoided my eye contact.
