Chase POV

The front door was open by the time I reached Valerie's house. I ran inside, all the lights were off and I could hear a faint whimpering from the kitchen. "Valerie!" I shouted, running towards her cries to realize that I wasn't the first person to get to her.

Chris was.

"I don't know what's wrong with her!" Chris said, cradling Valerie's head in his palms.

"Move!" I shoved him, kneeling besides her and checking her pulse with my index finger. Her cheeks were pale and her eyes rolled back into her head, she made werid noises as her body made spazing movements.

Chris remained hovered over her body, holding her cold hand in his.  "What happened?" I asked him, looking around her body for an entrance point as to where he extracted her power. Those damn lawless. "Well?" I shouted at him, when her body fell limp in my hands.

"She-she" He stuttered. "What's happening to her?" He asked me.

"You tell me." I rolled my eyes at him.

"I dropped her off after our date."

"How was that by the way, did you kiss her?" I scowled at him.

"Can I finish, or not?" He glared at me. I nodded.

"When she went inside I heard her talking to someone, and I thought it was her Dad. Then she started screaming my name, and your name."

I bit my lip remembering the bone chilling voicemails she left me. This was all my fault.

"Get her onto the counter." I told him, lifting up her body with his help and plopping her onto the granite. "Get me a knife from the drawer." Chris shuffled through various drawers until he pulled out a butchter knife. "Jeez! I don't want to kill the girl, small knife!" I shouted at him as I ripped open her shirt.

"Dude! What the hell are you doing?" Chris yelled at me, setting a pairing knife next to her.

"Close your eyes." I told him, grabbing the knife.

"Dude, what the hell!" He shouted, shoving me backwards into the overhanging cabinets. His hand was wrapped around my neck and the knife was raised in the air.

"Let me help her." I gasped.

He gulped, gritting his teeth then looking at her unmoving body. He nodded taking a step back and releasing me.

I leaned over Valerie and caressed her soft skin lightly. "I'm so sorry." I whispered before I stabbed the knife into her ankle.

Her body jutted forward. Chris lunged towards her, holding her hand as her chest began to move up and down and color returned to her cheeks. He squeezed his eyes shut. "It's working, do it again." He ordered me.

I raised the knife in the air and stabbed into her most recent scar. Her technicolor eyes flew open as she gasped for breath. Chris lightly brushed the hair away from her eyes and the sweat dripping down her face. The knife cluttered onto the wood floor with her majestic blood. Chris cradled her in his arms and a pang of jealously rose in me. I clenched my fists tightly. "It's okay." He whispered into her ear, rubbing her back soothingly even though he had no idea what was going on. She cried into his shoulder.

"Get away from her." I barked at Chris.

"Let's not forget I'm the one who was here first." He glared at me.

I wrapped a paper towel around her ankle, she bit her lip as she tried to hold in the pain that made her eyes water. "I called you-" She whimpered.

"I'm so sorry." I muttered.

"Where were you?" She whispered more quietly as I finished wrapping her stab wound.

I clenched my fists, biting my lip. "I'm sorry." I told her again.

"Where were you!" She shouted. "I needed you!" She cried and Chris pulled her back, holding her hand. "You were with Rachel-weren't you?" She glared at me.

"I'm sorry!" I shouted at her.

"Just leave me alone! I didn't ask for you to come back into my life. Please, she cried as Chris held her in his arms. Just get out of my life."

All I could remember was the pain in my heart as I saw in my peripheral vision, Chris holding her as she sobbed and the pain in my hand when I struck that prick in the head with the butt of the knife. I snickered to myself as I slammed the door behind me driving in my car, far, far, away from him and most importantly...far away from Valerie.

The video of my impossible power went viral on youtube over night with four million hits and title: Strange Girl Squirts Water From Hands. I felt like a freak, an outcast, and worst of all I still didnt' know what I was. Then they came for me.

I was sitting on the couch watching Judge Judy with my pet yorkie perched on my lap as I scarfed down a bowl of popcorn. Rubbing the butter off of my lip, I leaned over to grab the remote noticing it wasn't where I had last left it. "What the hell-" I muttered, looking under couch pillows because I was too lazy to change the channel.

"Looking for this?" A deep sultry voice asked me. My heart froze and I slowly turned towards the voice, a piercing scream broke through my lips as the lunged onto the couch and clamped their hand over my mouth, pinning me down underneath their overwhelming weight.

They were incredibly handsome, with dark black pitless eyes, that were somehow menacingly evil and soft at the same time. "Don't be afraid of me." He whispered. "Will you scream?" He asked again, and I shook my head as he got off of me.

"What-what are you?"

"You mean who am I?" He asked, he gestured towards the long black robe he was wearing. "I"m supposed to kill you."

I clamped my hand over my mouth trying to hold in the scream trying to escape my throat. "I won't hurt you." He said, leaning over me seeming to grow in height as he neared me. I gulped, nodding.

"What do you want from me?"

"I don't want anything from you. I need you to help me."

"Why would I help you?"

"Because I know what you are."

That was all it took to get me to agree to whatever he had in store for me.
