CHAPTER TWENTY- NINE: GIRL POWER

Dean's jacket smelled faintly of laundry detergent and pine as if he'd been traipsing through the woods for hours on end. He was warm and comforting and she held onto him tight. She didn't believe the words when they had came out of Sam's mouth, surely he had been bluffing? But the look on Oliver's face, the look on Dean's face and Sam's told her that he was completely serious.
That was a type of betrayal she didn't know she could feel. No one would tell her, no one would tell them. That stung but Dean was taking it far better than she had thought one should. That notion made her recoil, was disappointment and betrayal part of being a sibling? If it was she didn't like it. She didn't have long to ponder that thought as Dean stiffened and she needed only a second to understand why- the cops had arrived.
She could hear the sirens too, and judging by the way the group's eyes simultaneously swung towards the door, she assumed the others had as well. The stomach clenching familiarity of the red and blue lights that danced across the walls made her heart constrict in fear. They had just vandalised an entire building, openly and without disguise in a public area that more than likely had cameras. She was going to jail.
Despite her own fear she caught sight of Charlie who had turned fully towards the door and crossed her arms over her chest. She had never seen the bubbly Bradbury look so passionately hateful. Maybe the computer stuff had gotten her into as much deep water as Felicity's own hacktivist actions had. Possibly even more?
"I did not spend all this time running and working at this alias to go down now," she declared. She watched the door for a moment before she turned back to look at the others. "How long do you need?"
Persephone stepped up then with a grin Felicity could only akin to evil and made the judgement call. "Ten minutes - fifteen at most," Charlie gave her a terse nod, pivoted on her heel and grabbed Felicity's arm.
"Let's go soul sister, time to let the girls play," Charlie demanded. Dean looked at her with a strange mix of confusion and amusement as Felicity stepped away and mentally thanked Charlie for the escape she was handing to her. She didn't want to hang around there any longer than she had to- around Persephone or the ones that had betrayed her.
"So how do you propose we do this?" Felicity asked as she fell in stride with Charlie.
"What would Hermione do?" Charlie hummed.
"What would Violet Baudelaire do?" Felicity hummed back.
"H would definitely use her wand and her book knowledge," Charlie suggested as if wands might be helpful in this moment.
"And Violet would invent something- they both would be able to improvise..."
"Why Violet Baudelaire?" Charlie suddenly asked and Felicity shrugged.
"Netflix?"But as she said it she was already looking through the glass doors at the approaching ambulances and fire trucks, the police already there pushing people away from the doors. The police... "You know, I read somewhere once that one of the first things police do when they arrive somewhere is assessing if the scene is safe and if anyone is injured," pieces were slowly beginning to draw together in her mind. Charlie hummed in response.
"Police don't infiltrate a scene if there are hostages involved - at least not right away, even with-" She slowly turned towards Felicity who was already holding out her hand and waiting.
