Let's Make a Deal

Chapter 2

Nova's POV

Luxe reluctantly went over and hugged her brother as quickly as possible and came back over to me. Her family continued to talk to her brother and ignored Luxe.

"Listen, I can explain--" Luxe started.

"You have a brother? Since when?" In all of the years I've known Luxe, she never mentioned another sibling. Ten years without knowing about him.

She came over and took my hand, leading me back to her room. Luxe shut the door and locked it.

I looked around Luxe's room and saw all of her designs hanging around. Drawing is really her thing. Luxe wants to be a tattoo artist and a fashion designer.

"My brother Adam and I don't talk. He's a jerk. There's just hasn't been a reason to mention him and I try not to think about him as much as I can." Luxe admitted.

"When was the last time that you spoke to him?" I asked.

Luxe shifted in her chair. "We haven't had an actual conversation in several years."

Years?

I just nodded. "Well, he's super hot. You don't have to like him, but he's gorgeous."

Luxe rolled her eyes. "Hey, if you can deal with him, you can have him. You have my blessing."

My eyes widened. "For real? How hard can it be to win him over?"

Luxe scoffed. "Well, you tell me. 1. He is super pretentious as an engineer and thinks that he's better than everyone. 2. My parents won't approve of anyone who isn't a doctor or scientist like the rest of the family. 3. He wouldn't marry outside of our religion and even if he did, our parents would kill him. Is that enough to scare you?"

Maybe this would be hard.

"You know what? Let's make a deal. If you marry my brother, I'll become close to my brother again, I'll be your maid of honor, I'll be the godmother of all of your children, and I'll design you wedding dress. Actually, I'll design your bridesmaids dresses too."

I stared at her in shock.

"Do we have a deal?" Luxe reached her hand out confidently.

Let's see how this goes. I'm sure I'll regret this.

I shook her hand.
"Deal."
