Let's Make a Deal

Chapter 4

Luxe's POV

Nova, Adam, and I head downstairs for dinner.

Nova came out of Adam's room with a smile on her face. Maybe she's just relieved that dinner interrupted whatever Adam was putting her through.

Ava was already at the table. Of course, she spent her time kissing up to my parents like usual.

My mom would normally cook, but she gets Adam whatever he wants while he's home from college.

"Here you go, guys. Adam? Ava? What would you like to drink? Let me get you something." My mom went to the fridge and grabbed some sodas.

Oh sure Mom. Don't ask if I want anything.

We all grabbed pizza and sat around the room. Oddly enough, Nova sat with Adam the whole time and laughed.

I don't know what's going on, but I'm finding out.

The rest of the sleepover consisted of Nova and Adam talking about different areas of science that Nova could enter.

But this can't be. Nova told me that she wants to be an art therapist. Where could Adam be getting all of this from?

Was Nova keeping things from me, or was Adam trying to convince her to go into science?

I am really starting to regret this deal. I'm going to get to the bottom of this.

When Nova went home, Adam went back to his room and went back to whatever the hell it is he does.

In art class on Monday, I sat next to Nova and interrogated her.

"So, what happened with Adam?" I pressed.

Nova chuckled as she wiped some paint from her hands on her apron. "Not much, we just got to know each other a little bit. That would be important since I'm going to win this bet." She winked.

I rolled my eyes. "Just wait and see, Nova. He's not all that he seems to be. That's how he reels you in."

She wiped her hand over her eyebrow and smeared some paint on her face accidentally. "I don't know for sure, but I feel like he's different. He's not like that with me. I could be wrong here, but I feel like... like I might have changed him in some way."

And that's when I knew that I might be in trouble.
