Adam's POV
The ride home was very different than the ride to the party. Nova lays in the passenger seat next to me, passed out from the alcohol. I'm tense and worried about what Nova was alluding to about Luxe. What could she possibly have done that was so bad?
But whatever it was, I'm going to expose it. I will not stop until I find her secret. Our parents will be so angry and will most likely praise me for telling them.
I'm sorry, Nova. But blood is thicker than water. And nothing will stop me from getting Luxe in trouble.
-----
Nova barely remembers anything from the night when she was drunk. I don't want to remember our conversation about Luxe, so I just told her that we barely spoke and danced most of the time.
My friend Matt from college works with technology and helped me tap Luxe's phone so I can see her calls and texts. Maybe her secret will be revealed there.
I also know a bunch of guys that still go to their school so they have their eyes out to see any suspicious activity. Hopefully she hasn't been doing drugs, but that would be pretty fun to watch my parents react to that news.
It's been a week since the party, and I'm back at my parents' house. Nova always stays up pretty late and the rest of the family is asleep except the two of us.
It's been a long day so I go and say goodnight. When I get to her door, I notice that she has a BVB sweatshirt on and out house is at like 80 degrees. I can't believe she's this cold. I shake it off and say goodnight to her.
"Hey, goodnight Luxe. Sleep well. I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled and she smiled back.
"Sleep tight, Adam. I'll see you in the morning. Love you." Luxe put her phone down and plugged it in on her nightstand.
Maybe Nova was just a rambling drunk. I turn around and head back to bed. Across the hall, I can see Luxe brushing her hair and I felt bad for thinking she was doing something horrible.
Then she took her sweatshirt off to reveal a marking on her shoulder. Not just any marking, but a tattoo.
I was about to leap from my bed and yell at her. Then I realized that I could use this at a time when I need it most.
I smiled to myself as I pulled my blankets over me and closed my eyes.
Oh sweet, dear sister. You're in for some hell.
