Nova's POV
When I got to Adam's room, he wasn't studying or researching on his computer like he usually is. He was standing in front of the mirror, trying to decide how to part his hair.
I knocked lightly on the open door to his bedroom, and he turned quickly to see who it was. "Oh. Come in."
He went to to sit on his bed and I sat at the chair near his desk.
I've never seen Adam look like this before. Sunglasses, gelled hair, ripped jeans? This was not his normal preppy look. I miss the old Adam.
"So, Kim left?" I asked innocently.
He popped his gum, nodding nonchalantly. Ok. Now I hate the new Adam. Obnoxious as hell.
"Where are all of your physics textbooks? I would help you study if you want." I offered.
Adam shook his head. "I don't really care about that stuff. Trust me, I'm only in it for the money."
I can't take it when he lies. "Adam, I know you better than this. You love engineering, and not just for the money. You're a genius, and you don't have to pretend to be someone who you're not--"
"I'm not lying. I'm different now. Kimberly helped me realize that I've been wrong this whole time, and I have never been happier. Parties every weekend, girls every night, and now I have Kim. That was the old me and I'm a much better man now. Take it or leave it." Adam crossed his arms and rested his head against the wall, looking away coldly.
"Fine. Lie to yourself, lie to the world. I just hope deep down that you realize that you are selling your soul for some dumb girl that will only use you for your money. But if you're okay with that, that's your own problem and you are definitely not the man I fell in love with." I stormed out of the room, leaving him pained and confused.
