Nova's POV

I've never been to a college party, but I know they typically consist of booze, drugs, and lots of girls. I just can't imagine Adam being a part of any of that.

Adam parked his car and grabbed his keys.

"I can't wait to see your reaction to this." He smiled excitedly.

I was a little anxious, and hoped that the college kids didn't totally kill me. They don't like outsiders.

The party was at this guy's house, and his parents were on a college tour with his sister for the week. The house was crowded and empty bottles were scattered across the lawn. You could hear the music pounding from a block away.

Adam took my hand and led me up the driveway and inside. I really needed his help directing me through the sea of bodies inside.

Once Adam seemed to have found his friends, he began introducing me.

"Hey, Tom. This is my girlfriend Nova. Nova, this is my buddy Tom." I shook Tom's hand as he looked at me skeptically.

"You look a little young. Are you in college, sweetie?" Tom asked.

I tried not to grit my teeth at him calling me 'sweetie', and answered him directly.

"Yeah. I'm an Art major." I smiled, trying to be polite.

Tom nodded and so did the other guys around that gathered to find out who I was.

"Oh, cool. So you have one of them artsy chicks, huh Adam?" Another guy asked Adam.

Artsy chick? "I'm actually an honors science student and I was the president of the pre-med club at my school. I've competed at thirteen prestigious math and science competitions, and I've won each of them. This summer I'll be attending four biology camps specializing in anatomy and physiology. I actually double major in Art and Pre-Med so I can become a doctor. So no. I wouldn't classify myself as an artsy chick." I smirked.

The guys just looked at each other and Adam smiled, wrapping his arms around my waist. "That's my girl." He whispered into my hair. Adam took my hand and led me over to the bar.

"Let's play a game." He looked at me mischievously. "I'll ask you a question from your honors science midterm exam, and if you get it right, you take a shot."

I nodded excitedly. A few people gathered around to watch.

The more I answered correctly, the more people came to cheer me on.

Ten questions, and I got each one right. Adam made me stop because he didn't want me to get sick. Ten shots in me, and I was on the dance floor.

College seems fun. I could totally live like this every weekend.

We eventually got tired, so Adam and I sat on the couch. I was really dizzy so we just talked.

"I have a secret to confess." Adam said, a little drunk as well. "I hated you when you first came to my house because I didn't want to believe that Jade had any friends. I was about to put toothpaste instead of vanilla frosting on my mom's cupcakes so you would leave."

We both laughed. Looking back, this was just a crazy drunk rambling conversation. But, I can't believe what I said next.

"Don't worry, everyone has secrets. I do too. And Jade would probably laugh if you told her about that. Hell, her secret could have serious consequences." I laughed to myself, not realizing what I said.

"What do you mean?" Adam asked, sitting up. He seemed concerned and serious. I couldn't tell if it was genuine, or if he couldn't wait to get her in trouble.

"Not telling silly. Then it wouldn't be a secret." I smiled and tapped his nose. I thought it was pretty funny.

But looking at it now, it was one of the worst mistakes of my life.
