Nova's POV
I pulled the double fudge brownies out of the oven excitedly. Ava told me that these were Adam's favorite, but I think she was secretly planning to eat them herself.
Last night, I bought vanilla ice cream to bring along for the brownies. I took the time to get check my makeup while the brownies cooled.
I grab my purse and head out. Luxe's house is pretty close to mine, so walking isn't that bad.
There weren't that many cars in front of the house, as this was a super small party for just family and me because I helped plan it. Luxe's grandparents and her cousins are here too, and they're so excited because he's practically the golden child.
I don't even knock anymore. I pushed the door open and was greeted by a not-so-amused Luxe.
"Oh great. Time for the fun to begin." She said, rolling her eyes.
"Here. If you're going to be miserable, just drown yourself in brownies. Just save a few for your brother." I gave her the tray and winked.
Luxe took it from me willingly. "Just so you know, your brownies are probably the only reason why I'm attending this party."
"But this is your house!" I shouted but she was already in the living room, eating the brownies.
There was a knock at the door and Luxe's mom went to answer it, hushing us all.
She opened the door and we all shouted, "SURPRISE!"
Adam stepped in with a new haircut, cool clothes, and sunglasses. He was almost unrecognizable. What was even stranger was the thing he brought with him.
He didn't bring brownies.
This pretentious brunette he had on his arm made me wonder what happened to Adam these past couple weeks.
