Adam's POV

"Who is Luxe with upstairs?" I asked curiously.

"Her friend Nova. They've been together since they were like, five. Don't you remember?" Ava looked up at me.

I rolled my eyes. "I try to stay away from her as much as possible. Her strange vibes might be contagious. Besides, I was only wondering because I didn't think Luxe would have any friends. She'll end up alone, you'll see."

Ava laughed. She and I were really close because who else could you hang out with besides each other with a sister like Luxe.

Let's see how long this Nova girl sticks around.
With a girl like Luxe, it's only a matter of time until she realizes how lame she is.

Nova's POV

"You know what? I'm going to talk to him right now. I have a lot of work to do if I want to win this bet, so if you'll excuse me." I got up and headed towards the only bedroom in the house that I've never been in.

His bedroom door has been closed for as long as I've known Luxe. I always assumed it was an office or extra storage.

The door was closed, so I knocked and prayed that he didn't kill me.

"What do you want?" He shouted through the door.

Oh god. There's no turning back now.

"It's Nova." I said back, not answering his question.

"Come in." He grumbled.

I turned the knob carefully and gently pushed the door open.

Adam was laying down on his bed, studying from his textbook. I could fully see his appearance now and I'm not disappointed. Adam was stretched out, which really drew attention to his perfect figure. His dark brown hair and brown eyes were dark and mysterious, matching his demeanor. I could almost see a hint of suppressed warmth behind his eyes.

"Let me guess. You finally regret the last how many years spent with Luxe? Me too." He didn't even look up from his book while talking.

"No, I just never knew she had a brother and wanted to meet you, I guess." I mumbled, observing him.

He scoffed, now looking at me. "Funny how Luxe never mentioned me. I never mention her, because it's like we aren't even related. We just live in the same house. We're total opposites. She's all artsy and whatever, meanwhile I'm studying to be an engineer. Why would I waste my time on her?"

I was about to defend Luxe, but all I could manage was, "You're studying to be an engineer? That's cool."

Adam put his textbook down and sat up. "Don't lie to me. I know that people like you and Luxe couldn't care less about sciences and math."

"That's not true. I may love art, but that doesn't mean that I necessarily want to go into it as a career. I've actually considered doing something different with my life." I stated. He seemed almost taken aback by my response.

"Oh. What else are you into?" He asked, moving over on his bed so I could sit. At least that's what I think he was doing.

I sat down next to him and started telling him how I love biology, and considered going into the medical field. I also explained how art, if it wasn't going to be my career, I would use it in college applications to seem well rounded and I would continue it as a hobby. I started pouring my heart out without even realizing. I probably told him things that even Luxe has no idea about.

He nodded occasionally, and made comments about how Luxe was just going to waste away as a tattoo artist which I thought was interesting. If you really don't care about her and you're never around, how would you know what she wants to do when she grows up?

Interesting.

Luxe knocked on the door later and told me it was getting late and dinner was ready, so the three of us headed downstairs to eat.

Maybe we aren't friends yet, but as of now, we have a better relationship than he does with his sister so that's a start.

Good talk.
