Let's Make a Deal

Chapter 13

Nova's POV

I was slightly concerned when Luxe said that she'd help sabotage Adam's relationship with Kimberly. I mean, that could potentially help me win the deal. But maybe she hasn't realized that yet.

Luxe texted me saying that Kimberly had packed her bag to stay at Adam's house for the entirety of winter break. She's been over there for the past three days since the surprise party.

Luxe also invited me to stay over tonight to start messing with Kim. I have no idea what she has in mind, but we'll just have to see.

My mom dropped me off in front of Luxe's house and grabbed my backpack, heading inside. I knew that Luxe would be in her bedroom, not socializing with her family so I went straight upstairs to see her. It was kind of weird today. I couldn't hear Kim's obnoxious voice, which was pleasant.

There she was, sprawled out on her bed.

"Hey, Luxe. What's your plan?" I set my bags on the floor while she sat up to face me.

She smiled mischievously and pushed her freshly dyed grey hair behind her ear. "There is no plan. I already did everything myself."

My jaw dropped. Luxe never shows any mercy, so I was getting worried about what she might have done to Kimberly. Yes, I hated Kim, but I'm still a decent human being.

"Like you actually thought I'd let you work on this? I love you Nova, but you aren't the type to pull something off like this. I know you well enough by now to know that you would totally back out last minute. No offense. If you wanted this done, it was going to my way."

Now I was getting really scared. "What did you do to her?"

Luxe chuckled, twirling her hair between her fingers. "Well, one prank is simply not enough to scare someone like Kim off. So, I planned a series of surprises for her. To start, I poured out her perfume and replaced it with spray tanning liquid, then I---"

"YOU DID WHAT?" I screamed.

Luxe threw her head back and laughed. "Never mind that, just know she's gone and they had a huge fight. I poured my own perfume in Adam's cologne bottle so she thinks he's cheating."

I was about to yell at her some more, but she stopped me again.

"My point is that now that there is a chink in the armor, you have to go after him! I'm basically handing this deal to you, Nova. Go talk to him. Console his broken heart and replace her. Eww, listen to me. I can't believe I'm practically setting you guys up. This is too exhausting. I need a nap." Luxe literally laid back down on her bed and closed her eyes.

Well, I guess that's it then.

Time to try and win his heart.
