Nova's POV
Two deals. Now there was even more pressure on me to date Adam. Luxe and I are extremely competitive with each other so we take our deals very seriously. We've been making deals and bets with each other since we were in elementary school.
But none of them were as intense as this one. We've been texting and even my texts sounded desperate.
N: hey adam, i've been thinking about you a lot lately. when is your winter break? i can't wait to see you again.
A: Hello, Nova. My winter break is next week and I can't wait to come home. School is stressful, and I miss messing with Luxe. I do hope to see you when I come back.
I smiled to myself, trying not to read into what Adam was saying like Luxe said.
Luxe's family make a big deal about Adam when he comes home, like he's a prince or something. So I knew just what to do.
Luxe was sketching this tattoo on tracing paper in the living room so I went in the kitchen where her parents were cooking.
"So, Adam will be coming home Friday night?" I asked, taking a seat at the kitchen table and setting the place settings.
Luxe's mom handed me the utensils to put around. "Yes. We are all very excited and cannot wait to hear what he's been working on so far this semester."
I smirked, hoping what I was about to say would be heard by Luxe. "Yeah, I can't wait to ask him all about his school work. I was just wondering... wouldn't it be fun if we set up like, a party for him? A surprise party for coming home?"
Luxe, right on cue, burst into the kitchen. She was about to say something extremely sassy. Before she could protest, both Luxe's mom and dad told me what a great idea it was.
"I would be more than happy to bring food, or maybe party decorations! Let's plan this out during dinner." I sat down and we all started eating, but also writing down ideas for the party.
Luxe could not have seemed any more miserable. Even Ava was helping, pitching in her own ideas that seemed to come from a fantasy world but it was still adorable.
Every time someone would come up with something, Luxe would mutter a phrase like "Oh joy. I really wish Adam took me seriously when I told him to 'go away' when I was like three. Now I actually mean it." But the whole family was too involved in the planning to hear anything that Luxe was saying.
Actually, no one ever seemed to hear what she was saying.
But anyway, I am so excited for Adam to come back. This party is a great way to impress him and the rest of his family. Besides Luxe, of course. She couldn't care less.
Maybe this will be the day that I win him over.
