-Liam's POV-

The smile faded from my mouth as I read the text Sam had sent me. I quickly opened another text window and messaged Lacy.

I began to panic when I saw what Lacy had said. My mind was running through all the things she could have said to her. There were so many things that could scare her away.

The thought of Sam thinking she wasn't pretty kind of blew my mind

The thought of Sam thinking she wasn't pretty kind of blew my mind. That girl was drop dead gorgeous without even trying. She had curves in all the right places and the biggest brown eyes that could make any man weak in the knees. She was the definition of beautiful.

The thought of her pretty lips being busted made me feel extremely uncomfortable, all I could think about was kissing them better

The thought of her pretty lips being busted made me feel extremely uncomfortable, all I could think about was kissing them better. I shoved my phone into my pocket and headed down stairs. I knew if I sat around and kept thinking about kissing her I was just going to end up with a boner.

-SAM'S POV-

After texting Liam I sank into my bed, pulling the covers over my head. Maybe having to cancel was for the best anyways. As much as I wanted to believe Liam actually liked me I couldn't help but believe it was impossible for someone to care for me. Deep down, I could feel a ping of sadness; I was starting to really like Liam after our night of chatting and video games. He was not the guy I thought he was. He was funny, a little goofy even, and he was very easy to talk to. There was just something about him the other night that made me feel at ease; like we had known each other for years. My whole body jerked when a loud banging on my door shook me from my thoughts. A slight panic filled me as the sound flooded the quite room again. "Y-yea?" I finally choked out. "Sam, let me in right now we need to talk!" A bit of relief flooded over me when I heard Lacy's voice. Slowly, I climbed out of my bed and pulled the door open. I didn't speak; I just sulked back over to my bed and sank back into the warm covers. "Are you moping? Why are you moping? And why did you cancel your date?" As usual Lacy was spitting out questions left and right, not even giving me a chance to answer before she spat out another one. "I'm not moping. I am tired." I stated, pulling the blanket up to my chin. "As far as my date goes...wait...how did you know I canceled?" A puzzled look crossed my face as I stared at her. "Oh I know because Liam texted me the second you canceled telling me to fix it ASAP!"

"Why would he care?" I piped up without even thinking about what I had said. Lacy looked at me with a look on her face I had never seen before. "Are you dumb?" She asked as she sat down on my bed, jerking the blanket away from me. I just sat there staring at her; her response took me by surprise. Are you dumb? She let out a loud sigh and pulled her legs up so that she was sitting Indian style facing me. "Sam, listen... Liam is not your average guy. When you told me Liam asked you out I literally thought my brain might explode. Liam has been friends with my brother for a long time and I know a lot about him. This is a big deal for him - don't mess this up."

How was I supposed to respond to that? The more I thought about it though the more I realized that Liam was a mystery. I knew nothing about him other than he slept with a lot of girls and hated commitment. "Lacy what if this is just some game to him? What if he is just fucking with my head?" The words flew out of my mouth before I could stop them. Yes, that is what I was thinking but never in my wildest dreams did I mean to say it out loud. "Listen, Liam might be a jerk sometimes but he isn't like that." She finally said.

I let out a soft sigh but before I could say anything she spoke up. "I told Liam about what happened to your face." She shrugged as if it was no big deal. "So there is no reason not to go. He won't care if you have a busted lip. Liam has been in so many fights a busted lip is a normal thing in that house." I know she was trying hard to comfort me but it wasn't helping. "Fine...I'll see if he's still free." Lacy grinned wildly at me and gave me a big hug.

I could feel my heart racing in my chest

I could feel my heart racing in my chest. What if he had already made other plans? What if he found some other girl to replace me? My insecurities were spinning out of control. My phone vibrated and beeped - snapping me out of the horrible thoughts flooding over me.

My heart sank into the bottom of my stomach. He had replaced me. It had only been about thirty minutes since I had cancelled our date and yet he had already found a replacement. I swallowed hard at the lump in my throat. Why was this hurting so badly? He wasn't mine. I had no claims on him. My phone vibrated again in my hands - I was almost afraid to look down at it.

I could feel my heart slow down a little as I read over his text. He hadn't found someone else? My eyes closed tightly as I took a few deep breaths. As I opened my eyes to text him back my phone started to ring. It was Liam. I just sat there looking at his name on my phone. "H-hello?" I finally answered. "Sam? You ok? I was just kidding." His deep voice was warm and sweet like honey. "Y-yea...I'm fine." I stumbled, not sure what to say to him. "I'll see you tomorrow, doll face." Did he just call me Doll face? My heart started racing. "Night..." I whispered before hanging up the phone.

My cheeks were burning red; even though I couldn't see my face I knew I had to be as red as a tomato. How did he have this effect on me? He wasn't even in the same room with me and yet he had my head swimming.
