"Is it hard to be a duchess?"
Napalingon ako kay Cece. Nasa may pool sila ngayon at kasalukuyang kumakain ng meryanda which is two tubs of ice cream and some cookies.
"Not really.. I've had all my childhood days preparing for that role."
"Hm.." Tumango tango ito. "Tell me about your home then."
"Which one?"
"Hm.. the one you consider your real home."
Sandali siyang nag-isip. Basically, she have two estates, the Worthington which became hers when she landed the title of Duchess of Worthington and the Avery which was passed down to her after her parents died. In addition to that, she also owns five country Manors. Two of it from her marriage and the other three by birthright.
"Avery estate is what I would consider my real home."
She nodded, "But Avery Estate is much warmer. Even Elijah never considered Worthington as... welcoming. His father never made it a real home."
"Sounds like a freaking dictator." Nakangiwing wika ni Cece.
She chuckled, "He was a hard man. Elijah would always tell me his grandfather raised him that way. He's a duke that was why."
"But Elijah didn't seemed like a hard man for a duke to me."
Umiling siya.
"His father was seldom around so he had all the time to visit me at Avery estate. So basically, we both grew up together. We build so much memories there.."
"So.. Dreena, now that you're... you know, widowed. Wala ka na bang balak magpakasal ulit?"
She stilled. It looked so serene, so calm.
And then the image of Nick and her this morning came to her mind. How she laughed at something he said. How she loves being in his arms. Katulad ng lugar na ito, those times with Nick are a breath of fresh air. Kapag nalasap mo na, hahanap hanapin mo. Parang ayaw mo ng bitawan.
Napangiti siya pagkaisip niyon. "I'm considering.."
Cece looked at her and gave her a knowing grin.
Kinagabihan, she asked Nick if she could talk to her son. Pinasunod siya nito sa study room.
"Alleck and Cole are staying in your cousin's estate."
Kihuha nito ang cellphone saka nag-dial. Sandali itong nakipag-usap sa kabilang linya. He's obviously talking to Cole.
"Hindi ba malalaman ng mga kalaban kung nasaan tayo kapag gumamit ako ng cellphone?" She asked, worry etched in her face.
Lumingon ito sa kanya. He gave her a reassuring smile.
"No princess. It's safe." "It's your son."
She smiled.
"Momma!"
It's been days and she misses him terribly.
"Hey darling.. how are you doing?"
"I'm fine momma. I'm with Uncle Derrick and Uncle Cole. Although Uncle Derrick is seldom here, Uncle Cole is always with me. He plays with me momma. And he always looses." He giggled at the latter.
