I reached Levis car and jerked on the door handle only to find it was locked. "Open it."

"Patience, Emme."

"Why couldn't you have just given me the keys?" I think I'm pretty capable of getting the beer coolers on my own. No need to have someone to babysit my way there and back.

I should have stayed back. I grunted.

"Would have missed my chance of ditchin' your friends for a bit."

"You could have gone back to your friends." Its not like we're holding him against his will. He's got two feet. He should use 'em.

"I'm on a mission," he smirked, disarming the car with the click of a button. The car beeped.

Levi reached the back of his car and opened up the truck. I joined him by the back of the car, and pushed my way to be the one to grab the beer coolers. It was surprisingly heavy but I wasn't going to say anything.

Levi slammed the trunk shut then looked at me. His stare was focused entirely on me and that alone, well, made my cheeks feel warm.

I shook my head and averted my eyes. I couldn't stare. "Is that it?"

"I got another crate in the back seat."

"K well grab it and put it on top of this one. I can carry both."

"Ill get that," he laughed, "You look like you're about to tip over."

"Am not." I turned to stare at him wide-eyed. " I got this."

"Emme," my name dragged out.

"I got it.

He gave me a hard look.

"If you're worried about it fallin' and good money going to waste, relax," I said. If the bonfire was far away I can see why he would be concerned but really, I got this. I'm not returning to the site with nothin' in hand. Simple.

"Go ahead then."

"Wait, you're not going to help me get it out of the back seat?" I blinked. I was confused.

"No. You said you can do it yourself."

"I meant carrying it to the bonfire," I glared at him. How am I suppose to lift something with two hands already occupied?

The corner of his mouth lifted.

More drinks were passed out after the run to Levi's car. Before I knew it, the crate was nearly empty. I should have stashed a few while I still had the chance.

"Here," Levi said holding out a water bottle.

I took the bottle from him and set it down on the ground. I didn't need water. I was probably the only person who didn't drink so I'm the last person that truly needs it. People are going to have to camp out here tonight if they don't quit drinking and 'down' some water.

Levi let out a sigh as he sat down beside me on the log. At least he wasn't making those old man, grunting noises; not yet anyways.

"So," he nudged me with his elbow.

"So," I said.

"You shouldn't take things I say to my friends so seriously. Their just words."

I don't know what planet he came from but words actually can hurt. People can say all they want that words don't hurt them but their all lying to themselves. Words run deep.
