I squinted, hoping to see something through the blindfold that shielded my eyes. Knowing we were heading to a storage unit somewhere wasn't enough.

I couldn't see anything. All I could do was hold tightly onto Levi's hand and pray I don't fall because of my unsteady footing.

"Hopefully the car is pink and has those huge fuzzy dice hanging from the rear-view mirror. Maybe some air conditioning too."

"I wouldn't race using Barbies car, Emme. The others wouldn't let me live it down." Levi stopped suddenly and I felt his hands wrap around my waist. I was lifted off the ground in a quick motion then put back down. "Gotta watch these steps."

"Don't tell me your car is stored in some shady basement unit off in the boonies."

"Cars like these are worth close to half a mill or more. I don't have that kind of money to throw away on another car if it got jacked."

He had a point there. Unless you have a good paying job and you have lifetime savings, there is no hope for a replacement car if stolen. Levi's gotta guard that car with his life. "Is this your first racing car?"

"I had a 1969 Chevrolt SS before. It was a really sweet ride. Could be pushed up to 250 mph. It got totalled during one of my races."

"Gee, insurance paid for a replacement?" I asked.

"Not the full value." Levi continued to lead the way, using his hand to guide me.

"Honestly, I wouldn't see insurance paying full for anything. They try to weezle their way out of paying."

"It's cool cuz I had an excuse to upgrade to a Chevrolet Camaro. It's got deep front splitters, hood extractor and rocker panels. There's 505 horsepower and 481 pounds of torque. I did most of the mechanic work myself. Saves a hella lot of money."

The car talk went right out both ears. I'm just going to nod and pretend I care about cars. "Sounds fast."

"Ok." He said. We came to a stop and Levi reached to untie the blindfold. He untied the knot and the blindfold fell from my eyes.

His car was black in colour and looked like any other black car you'd find on the streets. I was expecting to see a car with flames painted on it and oversized wheels.

"This is it." Levi patted the cars hood. "Ain't she a beaut?"

"I've seen Fast & Furious, now those are street cars. What is this?" I raised a brow.

"The plain looking cars are the ones to beat."

"Your cars a shit hole, Levi. Garbage trucks look hella lot worse but this car is a sorry excuse for a race car." Where's the red muscle car?

"Hey, don't be hating on her," he let out a chuckle. "I've won a lot of prizes with her."

He's also been in one too many accidents with HER.

"Here," Levi opened the passenger door for me. "Get in."

I lowered myself into the passenger seat and instantly buckled my seatbelt. The car was very clean inside. I could not see a speck of dust or receipts sprawled out on the car floor. The car had a fresh lemon scent inside, bringing me to think of a lemon scented disinfected wipe. I loved the smell of clean.

Levi slid into the drivers seat and put the keys in the ignition. The car dashboard immediately lit up and the car roared to life. A small computer popped out from the dashboard and Levi's fingers went straight towards it pressing a few buttons.
